Natasha King Hello,
I have published two books and each time they were immediately credited to the wrong Natasha King on Goodreads.

Last time, I must have sent six emails, all ignored. I'm assuming the other Natasha King complained and got the issue resolved.

This is my newest book, The Borrowed Boyfriend. https://www.goodreads.com/search?q=B0...

How can this be prevented from happening with each book? I went to claim it 12 hours after publication but it was already attributed to the wrong author.

Thanks for your help,
Natasha

YellowBlackKing Done! Please add [Done] to the title of your request so other librarians know it has been completed :)
I'm sorry, there is nothing you can do to prevent that from happening. The other Natasha has the default profile which is why every new book of authors with the same name will automatically get imported to her profile first. If you'll ever release a physical edition, you can try to create the book by yourself before the Amazon bot does.

Natasha King Wonderful, thank you!

I can't do this every time I release a book, does anyone have a better solution?

What if I have an author profile on Goodreads with my middle initial to distinguish?

If anyone reading this has potential suggestions, I'd love to hear them. Then I'll mark this "done" when the issue is resolved.

YellowBlackKing The middle initial would work if your author name is exactly the same on Goodreads & Amazon and not already used. Please notice that there should be a period after the initial.

Natasha King I'm not changing my name everywhere, because I have a website, published books, social media, etc.

I can't believe there is no solution to this. There must be so many duplicate author names.

YellowBlackKing Yes, there are. However librarians cannot do anything about the system, for complaints/suggestions please talk to the Goodreads support. We're gladly here to help you again by moving your books to the right profile though whenever necessary.

Natasha King Is there a specific person to contact via email in support? As I said, my previous six emails went unanswered.

Hello Scott,

I did that six times, as mentioned repeatedly. A generic form isn't a person to contact.

This still doesn't fix my problem.

Scott Sorry, there is no other way.

Emily We do not have contacts for individual departments or people. We just have the generic form like everyone else.

The only solution is to make you the default profile for your name. Your books would automatically land on the right one, but anyone else with your name who publishes a book would have theirs land there, and you would need to have us move it off. So that's the only other option, and this is what Support would tell you.

I recommend writing to them again through that form, asking them to escalate the issue and saying you have not received a response.
From the drop down menu I would select "other" as the subject.

It only takes a moment for us to move a book to your profile. At least this particular task would be completed quickly when you ask, or someone else asks on your behalf.

Raven Blackthorn I am the author, Raven Blackthorn, of The Wolf of Spiritwood. There is another Raven Blackthorn and my book is on her site. Could you please remove it? There is also my site, which is correct as it only features my book; The Wolf of Spiritwood. TIA

Natasha King I don't believe that there are no humans working at Goodreads. This is not a solution.

That's not what I mean. We just don't have their contact information. All we have is the generic contact us form. Real people read them and the replies are from humans. I was just offering a suggestion. Maybe Amazon will improve the system one day, but it won't be soon unfortunately.
