Dear Nicole,

You are probably a great therapist, and a very kind person who wants to help others, and your book might well be one of the best on the subject... but please tell me why do people who really need a book like that, are actually very unlikely to want to read it? Its been my experience with my patients, you see...

I am curious to hear your thoughts :)

Jasmine

That's a great question, Jasmine. :-)

I find that it depends on the person's alignment as to why they may not want to read material that can offer them assistance with their life situation.

In my experience, one of my clients had been turned off from previous experiences with therapy, and it left a bad taste in their mouth and wasted their time. Therefore, they felt another "self-help book" was not what they were interested in reading.

While there are others who feel that they need further guidance than simply reading a book. They might lack faith in themselves to grasp the teachings on their own.

Then there are people who simply don't like to read.

I have found during my years of coaching that people have different ways of learning, and some do not prefer to read; they may find it easier to learn from or prefer to learn from an audiobook or one-on-one coaching.

Since there are so many different characters and personalities in the world, there are many reasons why someone may not want to read a book that could help their situation.

I find that the trust factor also helps when it comes to someone trusting that the book can help them. This makes it easier for them to give the material a chance.

There are many more possible reasons that people may not want to read a book to help them, yet the above reasons are ones I have personally dealt with during my years coaching.

I hope this helps to offer you a fresh perspective regarding why someone who needs the help may not read a self-help book.

Wishing you all the best with your happiness and success.

Sincerely,
Nicole.
