Great review. I will give it a go.
I liked Nagata a lot back in the 90s early 00s. I keep meaning to try her newer stuff, like this one. Would you put this above or below The Last Good Man?
I understand about being conflicted on whether you will read book 2. Sounds like a pretty good book and a wonderful and detailed review!
Hey carol. It seems like we have similar feelings about this one. I haven't continued with the series. Phil's reviews haven't done anything to re-consider.

I think there might be some elements that you will enjoy. As to the overall gestalt, eh, can't be sure on that one. I was able to pick this up on kindle on a sale, which was nice. Worth $2 for sure.

Tricky. Above, I think. I mean, it did garner some respectable nominations. I like a number of the ideas. There's just a device used that I was not fond of and tend to avoid, except in specifically apocalypse books.
