I loved this review so much I had to take screenshots! I can't help but see so much misogyny in the people who can't say "romance novel" without putting on a sarcastic little tone or rolling their eyes but are perfectly happy to self-congratulate over reading a bunch of sexually explicit pedantic male gazey litfic. Reading Philip Roth doesn't make someone better than people who only read self-pubbed shifter romances. The latter group are probably doing more to keep the book industry afloat in the long run and are probably nicer people. I feel the same way about genres as I do genders. (Ironic they're the same word in so many languages.) I'm sure there is plenty of comfort to be found in believing that a label will tell you exactly what to expect, but I can only conclude it's all just a scam rooted in values I can't and don't share.

Oh thank you, I mean it was bit of a distracting rant, which probably didn't provide much inside into this particularly book. But it did get me thinking it's strange the way that genre works in some people's minds.
