Julie De Replying to Calvin:

Thank you! I actually just use my phone, Samsung S22 Plus. I started with a S10 plus, went to a S20 plus (actually had camera issues with it) and now the S22 Plus. I used to have a Nikon camera but it was just so bulky to carry around especially hiking that I just sold it and got a better phone to use the camera. I probably should have went with a Ultra but all the research I did the Ultra only zoomed in more than the Plus, the quality of the photo wasn't much better. I was basing my phone purchase just on the quality of the camera/video and nothing else. I prefer Andriod as I have had both Andriod and iphone. There are things about the iphone that annoy me. When I have the money and see a phone with a better camera/video I will upgrade. I am satisfied with this one right now. I usually change a bunch of settings in it from youtube videos telling me whats best as far as the camera and video. I also have a youtube channel. Have a good weekend!

Calvin Tate I’ve got a question for Julie: how did you post your photo of that water fall? It looks great, and I’d like to learn so I can post mine that way.

Have a great week!

I'm glad you like that photo, Naomi! I am not into "professional" photography yet; I used (and still use) a Nikon P-500 (2011) with a fixed lens (4.0–144.0 mm). It is pretty old, but it's great at macro photography and has a really nice zoom. It isn't great for portraits (with no bounce flash), but works okay.
What camera do you use? I'd also enjoy seeing some of your photos, too.😊

Calvin Tate That sunset photo amazing, Julie!

This is another photo i took in Folly Beach SC:

message 14: by Naomi (new)

Naomi Raboin That is so cool! I have an older camera too, it is a Canon Rebel T6.
What are y’all using to post pictures? I cannot figure out how to get it to work

message 15: by Naomi (new)

Naomi Raboin Oh I will just put some on my profile picture, I think that is the easiest anyways

Those photos are really neat! I like the one with the circular motion; very…artistic, I guess it would be called that!😊

I looked up your camera, Naomi, and it looks like a really nice one!
When did you start using it? I started using my Nikon about two years ago.

Here’s another one I took in my backyard;

I recently created my own logo in the lower right hand corner! What do you guys think?

message 20: by Naomi (new)

Naomi Raboin Thankyou!! That was a fun one! I try to shoot different ways sometimes and sometimes it works out 😁

I cannot see the logo for some reason. Like your message is just blank spaces.

I have been using mine for two years too! It is my photographer friend’s old camera!

What got you into photography?

Can you see the dandelion sunset photo of mine that I just posted? If you can, then my logo is on the lower, right-hand corner; "CMT" (my initials).

Here's another way of posting it: https://imgur.com/a/rLNcRgb

I've always had a thing for taking pictures since I was really young, probably because my grandfather was into photography, some; he used to take photos of weddings.

I liked any kind of nature/animals books, etc, and now I like both; taking photos of God's amazing creation.😁

What got you interested in photography?

message 22: by Julie (new)

Julie De I like the logo it looks good. Great photo!

message 23: by Naomi (new)

Naomi Raboin Just so uk, I unfriended y’all for security reasons, not for anything personal.

Calvin Tate No problem, Naomi; I understand; safety always should come first!😊
I would still enjoy it if you continued posting on our photography group!😊

message 26: by Calvin (new)

Calvin Tate Have any of you taken any pictures of animals? Here's a photo I took outside our church that I thought turned out pretty well:

message 27: by Julie (new)

Julie De That's cute! Most of the animals I have taken pics of is my pets..lol.

message 28: by Calvin (new)

Calvin Tate Out of all of you photos, which is your favorite? Is there any story behind it?

I took this one last summer; I just happened to step outside and knew it had to capture it!😊

Oh wow, that's awesome! A favorite hmm, that's a tough one. Mountains and Sunsets are my favorites. I will have to look and see if I have one out of them all.

message 30: by Julie (new)

Julie De This is one of my favorites, I don't think I have a top favorite. It was on a hiking trip a few years ago in September near Blowing Rock NC.

message 31: by Calvin (last edited Jan 27, 2026 06:44AM) (new)

Calvin Tate WOW; that is really beautiful!😲 Breath-taking!

I totally understand you; I don’t think I could pick an all-time favorite of my own either.

Here is an interesting photo I took over a year ago that turned out okay.

message 32: by Julie (new)

Julie De That's really nice with the sun's rays. You are very artistic with photos. I've never been that way I'm just a point and shoot if it looks pretty...lol.

message 36: by Nancy (new)

Nancy I just download my pictures from my Canon Digital Rebel, onto my computer, and then resize them in Photoshop. Can I share my pictures simply from my computer? Probably not.

I thought those mountains in that last photo you sent reminded me of the ones around where I live! Makes sense, now.😊👍🏼

Do you have any good pics of your pets you’d mind sharing?

BTW, one of the main reasons I wanted to join this photography group is because I wanted your guys imput on my pics; if you see anything I could have done better, I’m always trying to improve.😁. Thx!

Julie De I will be happy to give you input on your photos. I hope we didn't scare Naomi off, I'm not exactly sure what happened. I hope she's ok. Let me see if I can find a good one of my pets. This is one of my cats Jade.

Adorable!☺️ I don’t have any pets, but have always had a desire for companionship of some kind. How many pets do you have?

message 45: by Julie (new)

Julie De I have 3 right now. 2 cats and 1 dog. I used to have horses also but that's been a few years back. Duster-Australian Cattle Dog/Golden Retriever mix (I think) he's 10. Jade-Brown tabby she's 13 and Macie-Gray tabby also 13. Pic is from my old house, we are in between houses right now, sold our place in 2024 waiting on the right one.

That photo is adorable; it looks like they really get along together!😊 I bet you miss having horses! Did you get any interesting pictures of them? That must have been a very different pace of life compared to having the trio you have now.😊

Here's a nice pic I got last month:

message 47: by Julie (new)

Julie De Oh wow, that's beautiful! I will have to load up some photos of my past horses. They were registered miniature horses. They are just easier to take care of than the big ones. I would ride on and off from 5 yrs old up until about 7 or 8 yrs ago. I just don't want to fall off and break something.

I bet they were a lot of fun. I don’t blame you at all for wanting to stay on the ground—safety first! I’d love to see those photos whenever you get a chance to find them. 😊

Here's another pic of the valley (by now, I'm sure you have started noticing the same mountain range in some of my photos.🤭)

message 49: by Julie (new)

Julie De You live in a beautiful area that's for sure, great place to take photos. I want to go south of Asheville on the Blue Ridge Parkway sometime, it looks so pretty down that way. I've only be across the parkway from Mt. Mitchell back towards northeast.

I've had 4 different miniature horses, all were registered. A couple from champion show mini bloodlines. This is my first one Tess. She's in a good home now, she's older 30 I believe this year. This was in the early winter so she had her winter coat.
