It reminded me a little of my Blood Mate in the sense of questioning reality and what's real and what's not. I think this book gave me the opportunity to experience what Blood Mate must have been like (in certain ways) as an experience for the reader because I'm never going to be able to experience my own books quite like readers will. (and I'm NOT saying the author read that book of mine, not at all, just that it made me think of that. What I do know is JT likely cackled like a witch while writing some of this because... I know I did while writing Blood Mate... you know those scenes you know will make a reader go... what in the actual f*ck???)

I really admire Geissinger as a writer because of the risks she's willing to take in her art and the way she's willing to experiment and make some people mad to create a story that nobody sees coming.

Angela Plumeria I agree with your comments about JT! I ADORE Pen Pal and it pissed off so many people but even when books are polarizing I say authors are successful since people are engaged with the story and invested in the outcome enough to discuss it.

Ambiguous endings are generally hit or miss for me. I guess it depends on what the author has been building up during the story. Sometimes it feels manipulative if the author leads readers into really wanting something to happen, leading then to believe it will and then pulling the rug out. It depends on the point the author is trying to make and how willing they are to sacrifice the entertainment value of their story to make that point, I guess. It is fascinating to think about and discuss.

Anyways, you sold me on this one, Kitty! I have two other books of yours that I bought and have been saving to read like precious treasures, so this one will have to be read after those! 💕📚

Hey Angela! I feel like this is one of those where BOTH versions of "what happened" are plot twists you don't see coming. And whatever you decide it means and whichever one you go with is up to you. There is lots of evidence for either one. There's an "official answer" but then a nod and wink to "but maybe not" so it's really left to the reader. So whichever ending you want, you can have.

Angela Plumeria Oops sorry, Goodreads app never tells me when people comment. I have Tender Mercies that I’ve been super excited to read for a long time and Ruthless Devotion!

Ugh I know! Me too. I don't know why they don't automatically tell us when people reply to us! Hope you enjoy!

Punky If It was a natural ending wouldn't her job all be waiting for her?

That's a really good point! Another point in the supernatural column.
