Great review. I just read this one too. Difficult to get through but very good.
It was a terrifying read. As usual, my review is likely prolix and over written.

It was actually cathartic to write. I was half wondering if it would be flagged and deleted due to my anti-Christian views. I have already been banned from posting reviews on Amazon based on my criticism of religion.

Just for starters, how about women being denied miscarriage care, going into sepsis shock and being left permanently infertile as a result. This is based on the absurd Christian notion that an embryo is the same as a living child.

Miscarriage care is legal in very state as well as exceptions for abortion when the mother’s life is in danger. This is all within the physicians discretion and the responsibility to would rest with them. It is convenient, however, to say that a doctors performance was due to “abortion restrictions”
The cases I have read (and yes, I’m very familiar with the hysteria that erupts every time a woman’s corpse is used as a political football) are due to medical negligence
I live in one of the reddest states and the standard of care has not change at all in regards to miscarriages

In 2023, a women in Ohio was jailed and faced felony charges after miscarrying at home. - AP News 12/16/23.
In February of 2024 the Alabama Supreme Court classified frozen embryos as children based on scripture.
I can go on to list cases with real citations.

The first instance, the woman was abusing illicit drugs and likely caused the miscarriage because they found methamphetamine in her unborn son’s liver and brain.
The second case the charge was abuse of a corpse and didn’t have to do with the miscarriage.

As to the first story, since when does illicit drug use, which I am not condoning, rise to a charge of first degree manslaughter and a four year prison term when the medical examiner did not determine the reason for the death of the fetus? She was not charged with illicit drug use.

Although some involved women who were arrested for things such as falling down, or giving birth at home, the vast majority involved drugs, and women of colour were overrepresented."
As to the second case, the charge of abusing a corpse (a bazaar charge) was used as cover so as to charge her for having the miscarriage at home in the toilette. A doctor confirmed that the nonviable fetus would not have survived. She was alone and scared into acting as she did by the very laws criminalizing healthcare.
What about the Alabama Supreme Court scripture case?
Trump is a good president. And he is an ultra-Zionist, as was his father. But rest assured that actual Christian Nationalists are disappointed with him mainly due to the H1B issue, which is so massive that reporters have to go to the archives in order to dig up evidence of his supposed secret ideology plans and misogyny. He's not a Fascist or anything of the sort, but a 90s Democrat. The movement surrounding him is another beast entirely

But how about the story of Samantha Casiano. Her fetus had anencephaly (failure of brain and skull to develop). The fetus had no chance of survival. The State of Texas compelled her to carry on with a doomed pregnancy for months, she had to endure a painful labor, a high-risk child birth and had to see the child gasp for air and die upon birth traumatizing her and her family. - NPR 04/06/2023.
