Liam Mullen I've read all types of books, including classical literature. Have you tried Jude the Obscure by Thomas Hardy. Treasure Island on audio is excellent, too. Some of my own works that try to emulate these great authors might include my trilogy: The Nationalists, Exile, and The Irish. The Scribe, too, come to think of it. And Darerca.

M. Alexandra Nesci I have a question for all of you: what do you think about Italian classical literature?

message 11: by Asia (new)

Asia Wieloch Do you mean modern classic? If so, I love Italo Calvino. I love the way he plays with time, blending scientific concepts, philosophical ideas, bending traditional narratives to explore reality, human nature, and chaos of everything.

But he is considered modern or postmodern, not classical like Dante or Boccaccio which, I think, is what you had in mind posting this question.

Maranda I love Pride and Prejudice

Alexander Pushkin – "The Queen of Spades". It is a blend of gothic mystery and psychological depth.
Gogol-The Nose & The Overcoat and other stories.
Ivan Turgenev – "First Love". It is a beautiful lyrical prose.
