My goal is to be more focused. I'm very much a mood reader, but want to complete at least 5 authors this year, and when I plan books for challenges, READ THOSE BOOKS instead of the latest one that grabs my eye. I generally do well with challenges but often don't hit completely 100% finishing them (bc I'm off mood reading books that don't fit into any challenges).
Pretty much same as prior years...finish series already started and mix in some classics and non-fiction. We'll see how it goes...
My goals:1. Read a book set in every province/territory (I live in Canada).
2. Read a biography/memoir every month
3. Read 2 non-fiction books a month
4. read at least 2 Biblical Fiction books a month.
5. Read more Christian fiction than non Christian.

Where abouts in Canada? My parents were both from Toronto Ontario, but they emigrated to the US before my brother and I were born.
May everyone have a blessed and happy new year! I've challenged myself to do four annual challenges and plan to include as many books already on my Want to Read Shelf as I can. I also plan to experiment with listening to audiobooks. (Does anyone have any tips on getting started with this??)
Book reading Goals…Total Count: I completed 50 books last year, down from 65 in 2024. I am averaging 2-3 books a month, so goal is set at 36.
Annual Challenges: Monthly focus (8 out of 12), Genre Match (11 out of 12), Complete series (Level 1)
Book of Month or buddy reads: 3
Six Month and other Challenges: 1-2

(Does anyone have any tips on getting started with this??)"Sandy, it's helpful the first time or two to listen while you're following along in a paperback of the book. Adjust the speed of the reading to suit what you can naturally keep up with at first. Then you can try listening to a couple chapters without following along and see how well you stay focused on the story and how much of it you retain. Once you master that, you'll be set! Happy listening!
Like normal, I signed up for a few challenges and I always enjoy some of the group/buddy reads. But I'm trying to go a little deeper with what I'd like to accomplish and came up with this... At this time in my life (late 70s), I want to go back and reread a few books that really challenged or motivated me, and also some that I just thoroughly enjoyed. I'm sure this list will grow, but here's what I'm beginning with...
I've been thinking about this, especially after looking at my goals the last few years and realizing where I came up short. Since we will be moving this summer, I suspect my reading will be down from the last few years. I've been reading over 300 and suspect this year I'll be lucky if I reach my 200 goal.Based on this, I want to be more focused with my goals:
1. Complete the in-depth study of the Old Testament, my Bible study group is doing.
2. Try and finish most of the series that I started in the last few years.
3. Try and focus my reading on the challenges I choose that will challenge me to explore new areas of interest.
4. Have fun and enjoy the books I find

I did the same this as well this past year - re-reading favorites from years gone by, and found I loved them just as much the second time, and saw new things in them reading them with older (not necessarily wiser) eyes. Fresh Wind Fresh Fire is a powerful one!
My reading plans for this year are:📚 Continue my Bible Cover to Cover Challenge: I'm in II Samuel right now.
📚Prioritize my home library TBR, because the stack is growing!
📚 I want to add more non-fiction book and books outside of my favorite genres.
📚 I also want to participate in Hidden Gems more this year because I had so much fun with it the last two months.

I was thinking about rereading Christy this year.
Loraine wrote: "Read books that I purchased for my Kindle clear back in 2012, and finish series."I still have unread books on my Kindle as well! I almost never read on my Kindle.
I have loads of physical books, audible and kindle unlimited. I want to be more mindful of utilizing the subscriptions I pay for and the books I already have. Ex: I have several books in my TBR that are on my kindle unlimited. Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to buy books. Actually going to the book store today 🤣 just trying to be more mindful of my spending.
Reading Plans for 2026📚 Read through the New Testament & Psalms twice and the rest of the Bible once. We use the M'Cheyne plan and it is more engaging than trying to read through 4 books of Leviticus at a time. 😊
📚Read 100 books.
📚I signed up for some challenges, so I'll be working on those.
📚Reread books 1 & 2 and READ book 3 of the Elijah Chronicles by Ray Bentley & Bodie Thoene. (already owned)
📚Reread the Jerusalem Chronicles series by Bodie & Brock Thoene. (already owned)

That being said, I was considering going to the used bookstore in town today!
2025 was quite busy. My main goals this year is to finish series I have started, read books from favourite authors and review my books soon after reading.
I'd like to:• continue finishing series,
• categorize my non-fiction reads,
• choose more of the books that have been 'collecting dust' on my TBR shelf,
• and continue to have fun reading!
After a fairly successful reading year in 2025, my reading goals for 2026 are:1) Read through all of America's eras, a few road trip books, and all 50 states in honor of America's 250th.
2) Read through Genesis and Biblical fiction about Genesis.
My other goals for 2026 are:
1) Write, design, and publish a short booklet on the history of the American Revolution in my home county to distribute to the schools and the community (a grant-funded project).
2) Complete the website for the weekly newspaper I run (a leftover project from last year).
Read for FUN again! Last year was eaten up reading for research. I started writing a series set during the Salem Witch Trials (it's not about the witch trials, it's about the everyday people of Salem Village and how they survived amid the chaos) and I didn't know nearly enough about it. All I knew was that 2 pairs of my 9th-great-grandparents lived there and survived it. That's what sparked my interest in learning more!

Examples:
Buy fewer books.
Read 18 more books than my total of 100 from last year.
Finish 13 series.
Read the rest of Karen Witemeyer's books.
Let's root for each other to reach our goals in 2026!
