Shawn Robinson Thanks for the review. I’m always so happy when people read one of the books I’ve had the privilege to pour into. I’m sorry that you were concerned about some things left out. I can assure you I went to great pains to ensure every detail I could find of the allegory and story was included in the Rewalked edition, so I was shocked to hear that I had left something out!
I went looking for that section you mentioned about Christian’s statement (in his interaction with Hold-the-world) and I read through that section numerous times, but I can’t find this interaction (a reference to Hold-the-world not knowing of God’s word) or anything like it in any of the original versions (so far). Everything goes from Mr. Hold-the-world’s question to Christian’s response, followed by silence from the men and a parting of the ways (no more interactions in that scene). I checked Gutenberg, Monergism, and even Desiring God for their copies of the original and couldn’t find any reference to this particular part of an interaction.
I know sometimes with older books there can be odd little additions along the way or revisions, so I’d like to dig some more in this. I desperately wanted this book to be as accurate to the original as possible with only a language and stylistic change (in the hopes of making the book more accessible to people rather than watered-down in any way), so I’d like to adjust this if necessary. Do you happen to have a copy of an original version that includes this section? I would love to check it out!
Thanks again for the review and for keeping me on my toes!
