Atticus Mullon The Sterling Gospel by Atticus Mullon

Hello all,

Love this group's hybrid genre, and felt that my recent book, The Sterling Gospel, may fit well. Please see back cover copy and links below.

Was Jesus Christ a god sent from the heavens, or a man sent from the future?

Long ago, the question was a blasphemous absurdity. However, in the year 2085, technology can perform every miracle recorded in the Bible. Concealed drones allow one to walk on water. Bioremedial ointments cure the blind. And now, a time distortion can send someone back to the past. Having secretly collected each of these modern marvels and more, billionaire recluse William Sterling is convinced it was a tech-savvy man, not God, who first inspired human hope. All he needs to do is find the right man to be the Messiah.

At twenty-seven years old, Amir Saleh is perfect. He’s the right age, has the right ancestry, and is in the right mindset: desperate. Though at first he wants no part of Sterling’s ridiculous plot, he eventually agrees for the sake of his family, wasting away in poverty. In return for their provision, he immediately begins a grueling, years-long training under a manic Sterling and his mild daughter Abigail. It takes years, but eventually he is ready to take on the mantle of the savior.

Thrust back in time to the dusty edge of ancient Nazareth, he navigates the challenges of living in an era vastly different from his own and finds that he does indeed have a role to play in the Christ story—but perhaps not the one for which he was prepared.

Peter Lihou Great video and fascinating idea for a sci-fi novel!

I appreciate it's fiction but philosophically - could we arrive at a future without a Jesus/religion, then go back and insert one? What would that do to the intervening reality in which they were absent - a coexisting reality perhaps?

Peter,

It seems that is always the question with time travel narratives;) Give it a read to see my take, but honestly an impossible question to answer.

Thanks,

Atticus Mullon

Peter Lihou A great read!

Peter Lihou Hi again Khira - I had the same problem as you, I think it's because the link is to the US Amazon site, which is fine for US customers but the UK link is different.

Here is the UK link I just used for Engineer of Stainless Souls: https://www.amazon.com/Engineer-Stain...

Do you realize it's priced at $140 on the AU amazon? Sorry, won't afford that ... And unfortunately, it's not available anywhere in the provincial library system ...

Jose Anwar Anyone here interested in reading more literary sci-fi? Meaning it’s not action or plot driven, but more contemplative. Slow burn where you immerse yourself in the world and debating or philosophizing on the price of progress etc.

Hi Jose - I am no longer sure - I write such fiction. Serious science fiction that contemplates the nature of humanity and freewill in a deterministic universe. Yes, there is plot, action and character — there has to be, but there is emotion and contemplation. I love Chiang and Ishiguro, Watts and LeGuin but does anyone else — anymore?

I have found it VERY HARD to find focused genre ARC readers. This for a professionally produced pair of books that the beta readers and editors loved.

Jose Anwar Hi everyone, I’m offering a small number of review copies for my book, The Thirty-Day Man. It is a literary dystopian SF novel.

It’s contemplative and not plot-driven, so it won’t suit action-focused readers.

Comparable authors: Ishiguro, Lem, Gene Wolfe, Christopher Priest.

If this sounds like your kind of book, please message me for a review copy.

Thanks!
