Oliver Do yourself a favour and re read it. I, too, wasn't ready in school but the reread actually made this book so good for me. Max Frisch is a genius.

Well, maybe in my 50s. I actually unhauled my copy and I don't feel like re-buying it (at least right now). :D But I'm happy to hear you had such a positive experience upon a reread.

Oliver You might not like it after all as tastes vary, but I'm 22 now and finishing puberty definitely did the trick for me. 😊

Yeah, I can't speak for the quality of the novel because I was too young when I read it ... but it was A CHOICE to make 8-graders read that book.
