I enjoy your works a great deal. Would love it if more of the Donsaii series were in audio format. Was just recently listening to Quicker again, and wondered what happened to Jamal.I do love your physics story lines, but Bioterror really hooked my interest in learning more about biology and genetics. I would love to see more books in this series.
It took me a long time to finally buy and read the Bonesetter books. The blurbs just didn't interest me. However, I eventually did purchase them, and unsurprisingly, I really enjoyed them.
The Hyllis series is another of my faves. I'd definitely purchase anything else you publish in that series.
Keep them coming! You've got me addicted to your writing, and it would be cruel and unusual punishment for you to ever stop.
I agree about the Hyllis series... it's been a long time since we've seen a new book come out.Alastair
While I want to see what else happens to Ell and what else Vaz and Tiona create I really want to just hear more about Pell in the Bonesetter series. It is one of your shortest series at only two books!

Great news! Finished the second Blind Spot novel the day it came out. Already Jonesing for my next Dahner novel.
Glad you like them!I'm still working on Bonesetter 3.
Then I have an idea for a new story unrelated to any of the series. Then maybe another Donsaii?

Hi Laury, I only discovered your books early last year, but now that I have read them all - there hasn't been a book that I didn't enjoy immensely. I love them all!
In fact they are my go to books when I am bored and have nothing else that I am interested in reading... When bored, I just re-read one of your series and still enjoy them just as much as the first time that I read them.
I must have read the entire Ell Donsaii and Vaz and Tiona series at least 3 times now! Any time a new book comes out in either series I tend to read the whole series again just to get the maximum enjoyment out of reading the latest book!!!
One of the perils of success is that everyone asks "what are you currently working on and when will it be ready?"
(Are we there yet? ha ha) Unfortunately, I am no different.
But whatever you are working on I know that I will enjoy it and look forward to your next book. Please keep them coming as often as you can.
I also appreciate any hints as to "what and when" to whet my appetite even though I know you have only recently completed your latest book but I still want more.
Waiting in anticipation...
Mark.
Mark,So glad to hear you like them!
I'm working on a new book unrelated to the others about a family that figures out how to transmute elements. I'm having fun with it, I hope you guys like it too. Should be out sometime in June.
Anyone wanting to be on my email list to be notified when new books come out can just email me at ldahners@gmail.com and tell me that's what you want.

Telepath(a Hyllis family story #4)
https://www.amazon.com/Telepath-Hylli...
“Telepath” is the fourth in a series of stories featuring the members of the Hyllis family. After a plague induced apocalypse which resulted in the collapse of civilization and reduced mankind back to iron and horsepower this family
tends to inherit “talents.”
Eva Hyllis and her ancestors became healers because their talents let them feel inside their patients. This helps them diagnose the underlying causes of many illnesses. Having made a diagnosis, sometimes they can do something. Unfortunately, they often cannot.
However, Eva’s children Tarc and Daussie have inherited telekinetic and teleportation talents. Telekinetic pressure can stop bleeding and teleportation can remove stones and atherosclerotic plaque.
In this book, they realize their young cousin Kazy’s a telepath! Tarc realizes his girlfriend Lizeth’s a precog… just before she breaks up with him.
Now they’re rapidly finding more and more medical conditions that their talents allow them to treat. And, they discover an ancient, undisturbed medical facility which promises more equipment and knowledge.
Perhaps now Eva’s long held dream to teach and practice medicine full time might become possible?

Excellent...I was surprised at how you wove a telepath into the group. Way cool... especially how her skills fit into the medical profession.
Really well done...
If you wish another editor, I’m happy to volunteer again.
Thanks,

Rereading Ell Donsaii I realized that curved ports are ultimate cutting, boring, mining tool. Ell needs to repeat configuration of the port that she used to disarm bomb in "Rescue" only with double port. The protruding part of the port would cut away any material even in double ports. This version she could release to the public. It would simplify space mining tremendously: do away with spining asteroids, cutting parts with sun mirrors, cutting with big ports.
Farez,If she released to public, what should she do about the fact that a big hemispheric port would also be the perfect way to cut into bank vaults, cut columns in buildings to bring them down, punch holes in ships to sink them, etc. ?
The only way I can think to keep them from becoming terrorists' or criminals' tools would be to build each one onto a large unwieldy structure, but that would severely limit their utility.
Should she only allow them to be turned on in the asteroid belt?
But there are a lot of peaceful uses they could be turned to on Earth (mining, creating small tunnels, sculpting Mt. Rushmore sized art...). I'd love some help on how Ell could release them responsibly.
Laury
But curved ports are already released to public in the form of contacts. So first of all in contacts' electronics must be installed locks to prevent converting them to cutting. Then use existing precautions: prohibited zones where ports don't work and tracking units. Treat cutting ports like guns: use same procedure to buy and use. Each cutting port must send GPS data and history of use to central server, without link to central server port doesn't work. People that could bypass this precautions, could as easily find and use guns, explosives, fertilisers and cars.
I just can't stop thinking that somebody should have realized that Ell's speed and inteligence linked and try to clone her. They could have gained access to Ell's genetic material after blood tests in India. Time goes by. Meanwhile out there somewhere grows up another little Ell.
The curved ports create an interesting opportunity.I did a thought experiment. Imagine a pencil with a curved port on the end instead of an eraser. You could "erase" a small slice from a surface easily. Kinda tedious though... You could not "drill down" using it because the diameter of the port is less than the diameter of the pencil. The drill would get stuck.
You could, of course, put a bend in the eraser and spin the pencil. This should work to drill a hole slightly larger than the pencil.
This would be EXTREMELY useful for machine tools. Imaging a lathe or a mill with a tool made from this. Way cool and VERY fast.
Imagine the pencil eraser at the end of of a flexible probe (what do they call those things that put in heart splints?). You could easily clean out the deposits on the sides of the arteries. Just ensure the eraser is slightly larger than the artery and you're good to go.
As for restricting them. The only difference between ordinary ports and curved ports is the electronics. Only sell the curved ones with small sizes.
You could also get a bunch of them, attach to a boring machine, and build tunnels easily.
I wonder, though, what would happen if two curved ports covered the same volume? Would the fields interfere with each other?
Interesting...

Reuben wrote: "Sisters is good , it has an interesting ending."I'd felt like the book was already over and then I got what felt like this 'after the credits' scene.
And I think the last word will be the next books one-word title...
Laury,As usual, I loved it...
I got it after midnight, and read it in one sitting... and never fell asleep!
Then I read it again the next day.
Great book... Like all his others... I think introducing the term, "Witchery", was a great idea. It's the name others give to the talents.
Well Done,

PS: also great title!

I'm Laurence (goes by Laury) Dahners and I write science fiction. I've mostly published on Amazon since I love the Kindle. A lot of readers have communicated with me and other readers on the Amazon Author's Forums, but those have been discontinued. So I thought I'd start a discussion group here on Goodreads.
I'll also continue reading and responding to "Ask the Author" questions that are posted on my Goodreads blog (https://tinyurl.com/y8z65e5f).
Hope this works for at least some of you who like to express your opinions!
