Point 4 of your dislikes gave me a lol moment Sharon!
I understand where you're coming from. While my reasons are a bit different, I also didn’t connect with this book. Despite our differing perspectives, I love reading diverse opinions about the same book—it helps us appreciate its nuances and understand why it resonates differently with each reader. Great review, Sharon!
I, too, listened as an audiobook, and actually enjoyed enjoyed the narrator for once. I agree the parents' story line was improbable and that grandma was a stellar character. However, I really liked that Lucy was flippant and sarcastic. If she was she wouldn't be half as interesting. The thing I absolutely hated was Lucy musing about how easy it would be to kill the various men in her life, and Savy encouraging her to 'KILL! KILL!". The author wants us to believe that Savy was justified in murdering a man, and to have sympathy for her, but then she tells Lucy to Kill! Kill! when Lucy is simply irritated by someone. Can we really believe Savy's story?

Great perspective, Barb! Thanks!!
Hahaha omg! Yes to everything you wrote, although I did enjoy Lucy’s character a bit more than you did, I liked her dry humour about the whole situation. But Savvy’s voice was starting to get to me too!
