I pre-ordered it on Audible and within 5 minutes I realized I could not endure it. I returned it, which I never do. Your comments are spot on.
I really struggled with her narration. I have to assume that the breathy voice of an automaton was what she was going for. Every once in awhile she would speak in a normal voice, which would have been so much better. Her narration made it difficult to concentrate on what she was actually saying.
I am minutes in and immediately knew it had to be the author narrating. The fabricated breathy voice and its cadence! I don’t know if I’m going to make it through the first chapter.
