I think the best starter book is Heart-Shaped Box. Not too long, and it's a very accessible story

I see that you started it. Hope you love it too!

message 15: by Allan (new)

Allan Phillips I started with The Fireman as a current bestseller, then went to Heart-Shaped Box. Both were really good.

Shannon I can't believe I have to wait until October to read this!

message 20: by Jenny Baker (new)

Jenny Baker I've read many of Joe Hill's works and loved them. It's been a while since he's published a novel, so I'm really looking forward to reading this one.

Tara — on semi-hiatus for health reasons; will check in when possible. Terrific review, Court! I love seeing all those stars. It’s on my list. I can’t wait to read it.

Anna Is your son really 101? How old does that make you?

message 24: by Belle (new)

Belle I. Cannot. Wait. Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow!

message 25: by Nikki (new)

Nikki Lee Spectacular review!!! My copy is on the way and I absolutely cannot wait to read it!!! I’m not a fantasy lover, but I LOVED Slewfoot. I’m stepping outside the box!

message 26: by Em (new)

Em Agree absolutely & so happy someone wrote about this. Hill's prose just gets better & better--I think this one might be his best yet. I'm still in the process of reading but I'm loving every page--his style and structure have matured so much.

message 27: by Amos (new)

Amos Great review. Now I want to read this one even more!
Cheers and happy reading to you, Court!!

Thank you! I appreciate it. I don't usually love fantasy either, and I obviously loved this one. It doesn't read like a typical fantasy book

TheBookWarren Wonderful review — I’m in!

message 31: by David (new)

David Pullara I also loved this book. And you've done a wonderful job of highlighting the father's influence without diminishing the accomplishment of the son. (It's something I've also tried to do when I'm made comments about the book on Threads, but you've done a masterful job of it. Bravo.)

message 32: by Cara (new)

Cara Anderson I’m about 3/4 through it and I just can’t put it down. This is Joe’s magnum opus. It has so many layers to it.
I just love your review and I just know that Mr King is extremely proud of his son’s accomplishment. As a lifelong fan of Stephen King I can see that Joe has definitely inherited his father’s talent as an amazing writer.
