Johann Thorsson Hi Jenny. Thanks for taking the time to read Whitesands :) .

I realize it's a little unusual for an Icelandic person to write black and Latinx characters. As an explanation (not an excuse or an attempt to justify anything) John Dark simply appeared in a scene I was writing, almost in the flesh and complete as a tall black man. I though about changing him into a white person but felt like he was just more complete as a black man. I had the whole book read by a black man to spot places where I mihgt get things wrong and did make adjustments.

Iceland is too small a country for a person to just disappear so I had to place it somewhere - and put it in the grimy U.S. of the movie Seven.

Moreno is named Moreno after Chino Merono, the singer from Deftones - only later did I realize what it means in Spanish. (I guess that one's on me).

Again, not defending anything, merely explaning. Thanks again for reading and taking the time to write a review.
