Kiara Hey everyone! 👋 I’m fairly new to dark romance, but lately I’ve been binging audiobooks 😮‍💨 and falling deeper into this world.

I’d love to hear your latest (or all-time favorite) dark romance — book or audio!

Recently I’ve devoured Sinners Anonymous and Butcher & Blackbird — both duets, and both totally addictive 👀

Feel free to add me! I’m active daily and love writing reviews or reacting to everyone’s reads 💕

message 2: by Lauren (new)

Lauren red rabbit and darling wildfire by Devyn Rivers. it's a bit heavy themed so check triggers first 😁 it's not on audio yet

message 3: by Jade (new)

Jade Raymond Also fairly new to dark romance!
First light introductions through Sara Cate/ Sophie Lark’s Grimstone (This is the one that really started it for me) & Monarch..

Currently reading Legacy of Gods series by Rina Kent & loving them.

Bought Haunting & Hunting Adeline yesterday & excited to start those & see what all the hype is about! :)

message 4: by Kiara (new)

Kiara Ahh these all sound so good!

Haunting Adeline has been on my radar for ages! But I noticed there are two books before it (Phantom and Satan’s Affair)

does anyone know if they actually add to the story, or can I just dive straight into Haunting Adeline? 👀

message 5: by Lauren (new)

Lauren @Kiara, Phantom is a prequel and somewhat so is Satan's Affair but in my opinion is best to do Haunting and Hunting BEFORE those two. Especially Phantom, otherwise I think you'll spoil the twist within Haunting Adeline. Though don't hold my word to it as I actually haven't read either Phantom or Satan's yet.

Lauren I found this online.

To read the Haunting Adeline series by H.D. Carlton in the correct order, follow this sequence:
Satan’s Affair
Haunting Adeline (Cat and Mouse Duet Book 1)
Hunting Adeline (Cat and Mouse Duet Book 2)
Where’s Molly (recommended to read after the first two books)
Phantom (a prequel to the Cat and Mouse duet).

This order ensures you follow the storyline as intended by the author.

message 7: by Janae (new)

Janae Griffin Haunting Adeline is SO good! Currently reading Hunting Adeline now and I can tell it definitely won't disappoint either. I'm trying to figure out what my next dark romance/smutty book will be once I'm done with this, I'm not interested very much in reading the Satan's Affair and other books connected to the series, for some reason my only interest is in the MMC (Zade) and Adeline, so that's my only reason for checking out of reading those. Let me know if they end up worth it though!

message 8: by Bethany (new)

Bethany Jade I highly highly recommend the ‘Dancing with my demons’ series by Steph Macca! It’s is honestly the best series I’ve read to date😅😅

That sounds intriguing, adding to my TBR list! Thank you!

message 10: by Kiara (new)

Kiara Ohh that makes sense! I usually like to read things in order, but I saw mixed reviews for the prequel and was worried it might throw me off before Haunting Adeline, which is the one I’ve really been excited for 👀 Sounds like the duet’s the best place to start!

Also, yess!! I came across a review the other day saying how good the audiobook of Unhinged by Steph Macca was, and I’ve been dying to listen to it ever since!! 😮‍💨

message 11: by liz (new)

liz Hi All! I am much more well read in the older dark reads. I know that I have many new things to catch up on , but there are some insanely FAB older books I will always love and can’t help but recommend. Some of these sort of started what we now know as Dark , like Kitty Thomas for example with books like Comfort Food]. Pepper Winters and some of her early work, specifically the Monsters in the Dark series is amazing, Other older favs not to be over looked Annabel Joseph, Pam Godwin, Ker Dukey,Lily White, Alaska Angelini/A.A. Dark, and many others.

message 12: by Kiara (new)

Kiara Ahh I love this rec list! I’ve been curious about Pam Godwin but haven’t picked one up yet. Do you have a favorite of hers or one you’d recommend starting with?

message 13: by Christine (new)

Christine I love anything by Leigh Rivers & Pam Godwin has something from every trope - all great imho. Suprisigly my recent favorite of hers was about Pirates of all things lol - Sea Of Ruin.

message 14: by Lulu_MIA92 (new)

Lulu_MIA92 currently reading Anathema. I got it thinking it was good and something I could like... but oh boy. I never expected to actually like this book as much. Can't wait to finish it and jump on book 2.

message 15: by Kiara (new)

Kiara Christine - Ooh pirates?? That actually sounds so fun 🏴‍☠️ I’ve only read one pirate/romance duet before (The Ever King & The Ever Queen by L.J. Andrews) and loved the whole vibe! I’ll definitely check out Sea of Ruin.

I’ve also heard a lot about Leigh Rivers, but I keep seeing mixed comments about her books being “too dark” — what’s your take on that? Like emotional and heavy, or more graphic/intense?

Lulu_MIA92 - Anathema sounds intriguing too! I’ve heard of it but never picked it up, might have to now 👀

message 16: by Christine (new)

Christine @Kiara Leigh Rivers is very dark, taboo, intense and graphic. Sea Of Ruin is great but also dark with non-con. I have the Ever King/Queen on my TBR.

Whispers & Pages Lauren wrote: "@Kiara, Phantom is a prequel and somewhat so is Satan's Affair but in my opinion is best to do Haunting and Hunting BEFORE those two. Especially Phantom, otherwise I think you'll spoil the twist wi..."
I haven't read Phantom but I read Satan's Affair and I suggest you read it before starting Haunting Adeline. The FMC is part of the main story and it tells the story of how her and Zane meet.

Whispers & Pages Kiara wrote: "Ahh I love this rec list! I’ve been curious about Pam Godwin but haven’t picked one up yet. Do you have a favorite of hers or one you’d recommend starting with?"

I read the Tangled Lies trilogy by Pam last year and I loved it.
It's not super dark but full of yearning and tension and the MMCs are delicious and on the morally grey side.
There's also a spin off, but I haven't gotten to that one yet.

message 19: by Kiara (new)

Kiara Christine - Ah got it, thanks for the heads up! I guess I’ll wait just a little longer before attempting Leigh Rivers.

And definitely check out The Ever King and The Ever Queen when you can ⚓️

Whispers & Pages - That’s really helpful, thank you! I didn’t realize Satan’s Affair tied into the main story like that!

Ohh, the Tangled Lies trilogy sounds exactly like something I’d enjoy! I love a good mix of tension and morally grey MMCs. I’ll have to look that one up ✨

。.•*¨*•♬✧maeve ✧♬•*¨*•.。 Read God of Pain by Rina Kent like over a month ago and I still haven’t stopped thinking abt Creighton🤗 Highly recommend Legacy of Gods Series!

message 21: by She Reads (new)

message 24: by Mandi (new)

Mandi Jones I am also fairly new to the genre. I started out reading JT Geissinger, now making my way through The LORDS series. Sometimes, they are over the top, but overall, I am loving them!

message 25: by Effie (new)

Effie I'm addicted to H.D. Carlton's work but currently obsessed with Den of Vipers.

tatiii ✩°。⋆ anything Leigh Rivers or H.D. Carlton is always a yes for me 🫶🏼

message 27: by Kiara (new)

Kiara Thanks so much for all the new recs everyone 🫶 I added all of you, by the way!

@Maeve — I’ve been wanting to read Rina Kent’s Legacy of Gods for ages, but since I love reading things in order, I’ve been stuck trying to figure out where to start 😅 On her website she lists two reading paths: one starting with Cruel King (Royal Elite) and another starting with Throne of Power (Throne Duet). Did you jump straight into Legacy of Gods or did you read any of her other books first?

@SheReads — Ohh I’ve been eyeing Under Your Scars by Ariel Anderson too, but the non-HEA scares me a little 🥲 Not sure if my heart is ready for that level of pain ahah.

message 28: by Kiara (new)

Kiara @Jessica — The Mindf*ck series has been sitting on my TBR forever. I seriously need to start it soon!

@Wed — The Edge of Darkness audiobooks sound sooo good. I’m getting tempted 👀🎧

@Mandi — Which JT Geissinger book did you start with? I’ve wanted to dive into her work for a while.

@Effie — K.A. Knight! Another author I’ve been wanting to try! Is Den of Vipers a standalone?

@Tatiii — I really need to start H.D. Carlton 😭 Her books keep getting recommended and I feel so behind!

message 29: by Sandra (new)

Sandra Hello everyone.👋🏻 I'm also new to this genre of books. There's levels to the darkness that I have found.🫢
I've read: JP Sina's Cruel Devotion, Allie Santos' What Hides In The Shadows, Airicka Phoenix's Executing Malice and Blackmailed By The Incubus, and Alta Hensley's He Sees You When You're Sleeping. So far. These authors have left an impression. Now I know what my limits are on dark romances.😈😳😭🥀

message 30: by Allauren (new)

Allauren Willowgrave I have a soft spot for Her Soul to Take by Harley LaRoux.

message 31: by Toast & Tales (new)

Toast & Tales Hello everyone, I’m still new to this book club 👋🏼
I started my dark romance journey with Hunting and Haunting Adeline, which was a pretty intense start tbh 😭🔥 but I’ve been hooked ever since. No regrets at all 😌💀
Now I’m also starting to obsess over dark romantasy 🖤✨
My latest reads were The Wolf King and The Night Prince, and now I’m on Quicksilver 🌑📖
