How did you develop the idea for The Countess of Harleigh Series?

Hi Christen. Thanks for the question. I'd been interested in the Dollar Princess phenomenon of the late 19th century where American heiresses were married off to British and European aristocrats by the hundreds. Many of the heiresses were giddy at the thought of the wedding but found out life afterward was not so great.
From reading their stories, I knew I wanted my sleuth to be one of those heiresses, but I wanted to start the series ten years after her wedding. Once I had the character of Frances Wynn, everything else just followed naturally.
