R.J.G. McManus An absent creator. Magical creatures in hiding. Guardians of the creatures stripped of their powers. Magic contained in seven stones, and hidden so no one could ever abuse it again—all because of a fallen sorcerer’s lust for power.

That’s how it’s been for centuries. Magic is now the stuff of fairytales, and much of the modern world has no clue what once roamed wild and free, not realizing that many of the stories are based in truth.

Though the descendants of Guardians have no magic, they can still interact with the creatures they were sworn to protect, preserving the land where creatures reside. Sisters Amelia and Emily Davidson are two such descendants, running a bed and breakfast on property inherited from their grandfather in coastal Maine. When a development company comes knocking, they must make sure their corner of the world—and the magical creatures who live there—isn’t swallowed up. Only there’s something off about Jack Garridan, the man sent to make them sell—and something even stranger about his boss, Adrien Dunstan.

And even more bizarrely, the magical creatures have been changing some of their habits and patterns over the past few decades…as if something is shifting in the world.

STONES is RJG McManus' debut novel, and the first in its series...the beginning of a fantastical journey, where magic is very much alive.

Kayla Frost Hi everyone,

I am doing a three day giveaway of my book, Escape Reality.
(Giveaway duration: 12/14 - 12/16)
description

A little background: This is my first novel, and it took me a few years to build up the steam to push this project to its finish line (i.e., self-publishing it.) From writing the 113,000+ word manuscript, working with my editor, creating a website, figuring out Amazon's publishing interface, and now marketing Escape Reality, I am happy to have made the journey here.

Book Summary: Escape Reality is a Sci-Fi Thriller filled with cyborgs, genetic experiments, and vast alien civilizations clashing in the distant future. It is a dark story told from multiple character perspectives, but Escape Reality starts out with Edith landing on a mysterious prison planet.

Just released in paperback form is my latest novel Beyond: A Tale of Discovery on the Other Side of Life. Avid Sci/Fi readers will enjoy engaging with this story that features an extremely intelligent white German Shepherd who can see ghosts and a boozy author, Laura Haskell, who writes fantasy novels.

When Sean Wilson arrives at the scene of the notoriously haunted Crescent hotel in San Francisco, everything changes. Sean's company signs a deal with FilmFlix, when he contracts with a brilliant young scientist to create software that reveals the ghosts on a computer screen via Artificial Intelligence and headsets the 'seeing' dogs are trained to use.

Getting involved with Sean motivates Laura Haskell to sober up and then they solve the mystery of who her mysterious grandfather is. Laura has a couple of spooky close encounters with the ghosts, but is ultimately reunited with her ghost grandmother, once a famous madam in San Francisco.

The romance leads Sean and Laura to a Scottish castle where they tie the knot, but then there is a terrible twist of fate.

Nothing in life is ever certain and certainly not in this tale of discovery on the other side of life.

Ananta Govinda Hi all, my name is Ananta, a writer and musician from San Francisco. I am thrilled to announce my new debut fantasy novel "Mirror of desire". After years of studying and practicing Vedic science and bhakti-yoga I decided to put pen to paper and create a unique fantasy novel inspired by the "eastern teachings".

Mirror of Desire by Ananta Govinda

In addition to the novel, I have produced an album of 8 songs that accompanies the book. Vedic science and yoga are a huge part of my life and are reflected in my everyday work. I try to reflect my spiritual side as much as possible in my work in order to bring unique and somewhat visionary content to the audience.

The album is available on spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/5CXVo...

Mirror of Desire is an elegant weave of fantasy, philosophy, romance, and adventure, chronicling a voyage through a world of earthly duality into the realms beyond time. Applying the wisdom of ancient cultures, this epic's pages explore ageless questions drawn from our universal heritage.

It is a story about Kastuba, a Paladin of Light, who stands on the edge of an unfathomable labyrinth. Hidden inside is the mysterious woman of his dreams. His spiritual training has led him to the verge of the highest achievement, the axis of the universe which connects all worlds. But does Kastuba dare to throw that away for a quest to rescue the love of his life, a woman he has never seen?

Mirror of desire is the first book of a groundbreaking trilogy. The Saga of the Self-Writing Book and Onto the Room of Darshan will follow. Each story is a thrilling adventure, which will expand readers' imaginations, stimulate their intelligence, and uplift their spirits. This exhilarating epic is also accompanied by the release of a conceptual music album themed around the story, which combines the talents of a stellar cast of artists.

Mirror of desire is available on amazon:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MX1MCCL

Feel free to check the website as well: https://anantagovinda.com/mirror-of-d...

Mirror of Desire is soon having a discount period on Amazon, feel free to comment or DM me for more info or a discussion!

Science Fiction/Science Fantasy

It's 2037 now, a stormy, surrealistic, new world, ruled by industrialists. In 2020, the smallest things changed a world, now split between eaters of gengineered food made by frementators, peppered daily with vaccinations, and sippers of SIPs, synthetic insect blood laced with probiotics from Mars.

Immortality and instant riches are within reach so long as one doesn't get killed along the way.

Fake News dreamed up by Prezz Gredloy, broadcast by Dreaming News, sends a space fleet without space ships to fabulous low Earth orbiting Elevator City. Unable to win any battles on Earth, the plan is to conquer imaginary aliens and take control of Free Space.

The only ones standing in Prezz's way, are a small group of ordinary working people, and the Pleiadeans working for the Pleiades Hydrosphere Cleaning Service, and both groups are only interested in furthering their own goals. It's only when their objectives become objects of Prezz Gredloy's greed do they band together. But is it too little, too late, to stop the Remaining Eastern States from taking a bite out of Free Space.

A surrealistic science fiction story where nothing is what it appears to be.

Douglas Moonstone Mysteries revealed

If you are interested in the mysteries of the Earth and of our origins, here are the mysteries revealed in my book :

EARTH IS THE AIM

Author : Douglas Moonstone
All my books are available in paper books , paper books with color photos and digital books ( E-books ), on amazon.fr

Mysteries revealed in the volume 1, EARTH IS THE AIM 1 , Eden and China’s Gods :
The gods of the antiquity period did really exist
They came from Space and terraformed the Earth just emerging from the Würm III Ice Age
Then they colonized the Earth
The Bible and the Chinese legends describe these invasions up to the smallest technical detail

In this volume 1 , I explain why flying saucers are not fantasy and how they work
You will also discover that ancient maps are representing the Earth several thousand years ago
You will learn that the first woman is not Eve , but Lilith
Indeed , Eve is a clone of Adam ...
The flood did take place in -4900 , it is now scientifically proven
It swallowed down the Garden of Eden , in Anatolia , Northern Turkey , on the shore of the Black Sea
The Garden of Eden was the land base for the Edenists, who had then to move to their new base in the Kunlun Mountains in China
They safeguarded their Earth staff with the Noah's ark , a top of technology

Like the Bible , the Chinese legends also describe the terraforming of the Earth
These legends also tell us about their journey to Earth and the wars against the Atlanteans
The Atlanteans also participated in the terraforming of the Earth but this had negative consequences for the Edenists such as the tilting of the Earth which caused massive flooding throughout Asia due to the reversal of the courses of the rivers which instead to go East have now to go South
But it also placed the North Pole at the South Pole

The legends of Olympus tell us about the current life at the court of the gods on the Mount Kunlun
As you can understood it , for Jupiter , Zeus , the Celestial Emperor and the Son of the Heaven , we are actually talking from the same person

Next week I will reveal you the mysteries revealed in the volume 2 , EARTH IS THE AIM 2 , The Atlantean gods

You can read some extracts in my blog :

Aino Lahteva Hey there!

My first book Strands of Existence 1: Island Girl is on sale on Amazon for a few days (18th to 21rst): USD 0.99, it's also on Unlimited.

Goodreads:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...
Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GS8XNQ6

Blurb:
As an opportunist, Istrae yearns to get off her home island and visit Kerth, the City of Light and Abundance. Her preferred method of travel, however, didn't include drowning. And she didn't expect the city to be so dirty. Her memories are as broken as her body. She begins to piece them together with the help of a spirit bound to a statue and an ambitious army captain called Rime she enjoys teasing.

While Rime guides Istrae in her new life, it becomes evident the rigid rules of society and the city's Temple do not welcome those who seek to shake the established rules, which is something Istrae is incapable of resisting.

Some reviews excerpts:

"I enjoyed this book a lot. I loved the characterisation, the world-building was superb and the concept and plot were great too."

"Istrae is such a complicated character. She is fierce but can appreciate order. She can change her mind to argument. And at times, I'm not sure if she is the good guy or a villain."

"Strands of Existence is a different type of fantasy story that breaks the mold of the epic fantasy genre in an entertaining way. I recommend this book to sword and sorcery fans looking for some romance added to the mix of a fantasy story that doesn’t overwhelm you with specifics and focuses instead on delivering human drama that is easily enjoyed."

I hope you give it a try :)

Hi all!

My name is Phil. I am writing a book series, Splattering Yet Endearing. I also run a blog where I post about my story and about advice for other authors.

I am glad to meet and chat with other authors, and readers!

"Widowing is a fatal disease, targeting and killing one person in every impacted couple. No treatments exist, or a solution, or survivors. Some think if Widowing targets one gender…intentionally.

Porma needs to move in with someone. Iteni, his high school crush, allows him to move in with her. He’s stoked to get to be with her. So what if no one know how to spot Widowing? Porma can possibly get with Iteni! He has multiple odd jobs to do too, as he seeks romance and adventure at his new Maine home.

Iteni’s been biting herself though. In the bathroom, leaving teeth marks on her skin. She wants to talk about her hand marks, and get help."

Nick Edward Hey guys! Relayor (550+ pages on Kindle) (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3...) is about to get a 99¢ countdown deal.

The book received some nice reviews before the advertising budget ran out a few years back. Something like 16 in total. If you take out the 2 (unavoidable, it would seem) bad reviews, it gets an average of about 4.7 stars. Amazon has six 5-star reviews, and three that were 4-star. Goodreads, two and three, respectively. It truly is an epic story with great characters. I think you'll find that there's never been anything quite like it.

I know... I've been neglect in my marketing, but the good news is that since those reviews were posted, I've made some very solid upgrades to Relayor's readability (editing your own work is really, really hard). The $0.99 Countdown Deal begins at 8AM Thursday and runs for one week, through Mar 31. Hope you get a copy, and if you like it, I hope you'll give it a nice review. Enjoy, and thanks.

Casey Dorman Ezekiel's Brain

I'm Casey Dorman and my new sci-fi novel is Ezekiel's Brain, released date tomorrow, April 1, 2021. It's available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and through Smashwords. Both paperback and digital. Read more about it at https://caseydorman.com/forthcoming-t...

Here's a description and some early reviews:

A powerful artificial intelligence—AI—goes rogue and exterminates the human race. Two-hundred years later, artificial intelligences have replaced humans and are exploring the universe, but a malignant AI mutation leads to an intra-galactic war that can only be won by resurrecting Ezekiel, an electronic copy of a human brain.

A combination of hard science fiction and hard-core space opera with a striking philosophical twist. What begins as an earth-bound thriller with a mysterious government agency trying to weaponize an all-powerful AI, becomes the beginning of new race of machines who send a crew of AIs off to the far reaches of space on a mission of exploration. The first book in the “Voyages of the Delphi” is the foundational novel to a ground-breaking new series featuring the next step in the evolution of intelligence—from human to machine.

“Brimming with just the right blend of intelligence, knowledge and imagination, the plot of Ezekiel’s Brain careers its way from planet to planet, from solar system to parallel universe, culminating in a climax set far in the future that also acts as a metaphor for present and pressing concerns.”
Panayotis Cacoyannis, best-selling author of The Coldness of Objects

"Ezekiel’s Brain does exactly what a piece of speculative fiction should: it delights in being thought-provoking, ranging over issues in AI, neuroscience, politics and philosophy, and at the same time takes the reader on a high octane narrative journey.”
Bernard Beckett, author of the scifi classic, Genesis
“Ezekiel’s Brain is a rollercoaster of a ride around the universe, and great fun to read.”
Calum Chace, “The AI guy" - Global speaker on artificial Intelligence – best-selling author of Surviving AI, The Economic Singularity, and Pandora’s Brain.

“Be prepared for an intense, thought provoking page turner.”

Benjamin Garratt Hello lovely SciFi and Fantasy Book Club members - I've just published my first novel - a sci-fi dystopia called The Youth Movement.

I've been writing it for quite a few years... but lockdown gave me the opportunity to finish editing it and get it out there.

I would love to hear your thoughts on it. This is the blurb that appear on Amazon and the back of the book:

Mid-21st century London is overrun with teenage gangs fighting the ghosts of Britain’s liberal past. A disillusioned lobbyist and washed-up politician pin their hopes on an unstable tech entrepreneur. And a girl, tracked by her friends and a pair of undertrained agents, has her brain hacked and is exiled amongst the people she most despises.

Benjamin Garratt’s dystopian novel follows idealistic outsiders from three intertwined eras and questions whether living in history can help us avoid making the mistakes of the future.

The witch wants her dead, the fae want her alive, the police want to bring her in for questioning. High school should not be this way.

Olivia knows the rules: study hard, never lie, do unto others, but when a witch makes the rules and the others are fae, telling the truth will get her locked up.

Last month she saw the impossible, now she sees it again. She tells herself it's all in her head. How else explain a shining man who fell out of nowhere or a student who died but still lives?

She carries on with her usual activities: volleyball, pop quizzes, a favor for Mom, but denial won't make it go away. When she thinks it can't get any worse, it does.

Friends, enemies, the police, someone is lying, but who? If not one of them, one of us.

Jens Can I recommend Rick Wayne here? Disclosure: he's a friend, but he's a bit reluctant with regards to self-promotion, etc. so as far as a quick search revealed, he hasn't posted anything here. Which is a shame. Looking through the guidelines, etc. it still seems that this is the best corner of this group to post this.

It's a bit hard to pick a book, but I'm settling on Zero Signal, largely because he promised me I'd be mentioned as a technical consultant. So if you don't like something, I'll take part of the blame. Also, it's his latest.

Rick has written a number of books, usually in some kind of serial form. The Minus Faction is comic book superhero fiction with a twist. Feast of Shadows is an IMHO excellent take on urban fantasy with a dash of horror that turns unexpectedly epic towards the end.

In The Zero Signal, Rick turns his attention to near-future Science Fiction, with a certain resemblance to Cyberpunk.

Rick's usual problem is that he's breaking genre boundaries without thinking about it, and some readers find that disconcerting. Personally, it's a breath of fresh air to me. So it is with The Zero Signal.

Unlike "traditional" Cyberpunk, it's not enamoured with chrome and neon, but the rather more serious "what if?" kind of question that relatively strongly relates to the world we can see when we look out the window. It's fairly grounded in the reality we observe every day, but isn't afraid to throw some wildly speculative ideas into the mix.

And that is because Rick is generally not a fan of simplifications. To some degree or another, a lot of genre fiction simplifies. Sci-fi's "what if?" tends to extrapolate from known things, but often amplifies a single idea to the point everything revolves around it, thus simplifying the picture it paints drastically.

Rick's approach is to do much the opposite: he acknowledges that the world we life in is highly complex and full of weird, and amplifies that complexity.

Rick's strength are dialogue and action, in my opinion. As such, the writing is as engaging as ever, and allows you to tear through the pages easily. But it is also a heavy book to digest. You'll find plenty of places where despite wanting to continue with the story, you prefer contemplating the implications of what you just read instead.

Yes, Rick's a friend, and I'm likely to sing his praises here ;) But we also became friends over discussions on topics not unlike the ones he covers in his writing, so this is also a very genuine recommendation of his books.

If genre-bending, boundary-pushing, action-packed think-pieces are your thing (they are mine, and they're rare!), then I think you will enjoy his writing.

I haven't written anything about the content, because... well... it would give the wrong picture. "A crime-fighting clone of a genius" is correct, "fighting dinosaurs" is appropriate, "hyper-intelligent ape running a government agency" is certainly in there, as is "rogue military AI with a child-like personality", but you know, it's all in how you put together.

Excerpt from my third book - ALL KAAL NONE - KĀMA TRYAMBAKA

“What prompts destruction?”
“Knowing is the root of destruction. Creator has caused this conflict in us by forcing identity with memory. And now that you know yourself, you want to identify everything else. Just so you can separate it from yourself.” Said AsTōr.
“Who is this creator? I don’t understand the dot logic. Should it not have a shape like a physical being?” Ketzal questioned.
“I understand that for you, anything to exist has to be at mass and energy level. So you will never know The Creator in the absolute sense. As it is beyond nothingness. No memory, mass, or energy. It is before existence itself.” Said AsTōr.

All three books have an interesting conversation between two beings on futility of existence. It spans across galaxies on several planets.

Gilbert Extinction Book 1 Girl with the Golden Eyes is FREE on Kindle today, Saturday 17 April, 2021. Go to Amazon, search for ASIN B08YNDSKDZ, and download

PLOT IN BRIEF: In a future dystopian American desert, beautiful elite Cosmos Fascist Youth Leader 14-year-old Miranda, captured by Mutant Prince Caliban, is to be sacrificed on a flaming cross to the Mutant Goddess Dolly the Sheep.
PLOT LESS BRIEF: EXTINCTION BOOK 1 GIRL WITH THE GOLDEN EYES is a vast, ambitious, finely-drawn portrait of a future elitist Liberal Fascist caste-dominated human society, where the 0.000000001 % "Cosmos" elite rules from utopian domed cities over a devastated, desert-like, largely dead, dystopian world. The story takes the point of view, initially, of a beautiful, elite, hyper-talented idealist Cosmos Fascist girl, Miranda, 14-years-old, lost in the Great Central American Desert, then captured by Tarzan-like Caliban, a Mutant Prince, and destined to be sacrificed on a flaming cross by Caliban’s desert mutants to the Mutant Goddess, Dolly the Sheep. The book crosses genres and is multi-dimensional, a thriller, a quest story, occasionally satiric, with metaphysical and mystical moments, and with, at the center, not only Miranda, and her ultra-elite mother Niki, but also our half-alien half-human "hybrid" vampire heroine, V. In a headlong rush, Extinction Book 1 Girl with the Golden Eyes takes us, with the following two volumes, already published, to the end of the Anthropocene. Subservient Subs, Barbaric Burbites, Grotesque Mutants, Cannibalistic Ghouls, and Flying Fundamentalist True Believer Zombie Bats proliferate. A marketing nightmare! A reader’s delight.

Todd Thorne Howdy from East Texas! I’ve been crafting dark speculative fiction for about two decades now. Short stories to start with up until the end of 2020 when I published my first novel. Some brief characteristics of it include:
- hinges on near-future tech (a favorite theme of mine) though with complications of a paranormal nature
- female led and driven story
- features college students showcasing STEM (another soft spot of mine)
- first person singular PoV
- a standalone tale (no ending cliffhanger)
I should also mention the story has mature and intense themes, situations, and language just in case that’s not to your preference.

More info on the GoodReads page and I love to hear from and interact with readers and other writers.

Mr David am a new author. My first book, First Legion, was released on August 31st, 2020. I am a veteran, a submarine that has read a lot of books in my lifetime. If I had to put a number to how many books I have read I would have to guess around ten thousand. I read a lot.

I started writing when my wife suggested that I do. Unfortunately she passed before the release of book one. I have currently written seven books in the First Legion story, but intend to write between eight and twelve.

Here is a description of my first
book.

The Legions were created to protect Earth and other planets from a fierce foe known as the Tellnites. The Tellnites's only purpose is to take over worlds. When the Gargans visit Earth, they tell the planet about the Tellnites and the fact that their path of destruction is pointed in the direction of both Earth and Gargan, their home world. Men and women of Earth, of all races, head the call to protect Earth and their new friends, the Gargans. Little do they know that things would change in a drastic way only ten years later. Thus is born the Legion, with its creed: "No slavery in the Universe."

P.L. Tavormina AEROVOYANT is on a Kindle Countdown sale starting Sunday through Thursday. :)

Only 99 cents on Monday and Tuesday.

Average rating 4.5. I'd love to connect with more readers. Sequel is now in the works, for release later this year. Second world adventure, climate science.

https://www.amazon.com/Aerovoyant-Ind...

"On planet Turaset, droughts ravage farmlands, cyclones rip through coastal cities, and with every barrel of oil the combustion industry pumps from the ground, the climate worsens. Alphonse has just refused a council seat because taking it means serving that rapacious industry. He leaves the city to seek solace in the wilderness, and there, a power to live the past awakens within him. Alphonse walks the steps of his distant ancestors on long-dead Earth, soon growing plagued with memories of its collapse, and he's left with a troubling certainty: He must infiltrate the combustion industry to secure proof of its treachery, or Turaset will be next to fall.

Alphonse finds an ally in Myrta, a farmgirl who sees air, every molecule in every pulse of breath or blast of exhaust. With her talent, she can evade the patrols on the industry's grounds. Together, Alphonse and Myrta can prove the industry lies about emissions. They can convince the councils to shut down fossil fuel use permanently.

But people in the industry have grown wise to Myrta's power--and now she's marked for death."

D.J. Austin The Austin Experiment is my first novella, released in late 2020. It is the first book in a trilogy. Please check it out at this link!

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08...

Newly appointed U.S. Naval officer, Ensign Austin, is about to stumble onto the most powerful capability the world has ever known.
The submarine he has been assigned to is secretly equipped with an experimental government time travel device that the crew will soon be testing, and those in control will stop at nothing to ensure the test goes as planned. If successful, they will have the power to transform our world or destroy it completely.
Things go awry when he is contaminated with a drop of the device’s fuel source, mentally connecting him to the time machine and launching him directly into the heart of the experiment.
Will Ensign Austin be able to gain control of the device and his newfound power in time to save the world?

D. J. Austin is a career U.S. Navy sailor, joining the military soon after graduating from high school. He began his career as an enlisted sailor, serving onboard aircraft carriers in the late 1990s. In the middle of his career, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Citadel, which led to a commission in the US Navy. He continued serving as a commissioned officer onboard submarines for the next ten years, during which time he earned a Master of Engineering Management from Duke University. D. J. Austin is now retired from the U.S. Navy and lives with his wife and children in a small, New England village by the sea.

Mike Futcher Hi everyone, I've been a prolific reviewer on LibraryThing for years and have decided to start adding some of my best reviews to Goodreads. It's an ongoing process, but feel free to check them out!

I've also written a literary science fiction novelette named Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog, which is available for £0.99 on Kindle or free on Kindle Unlimited. I'm very keen to see if people respond to what I was trying to do with it. The blurb is here:

"He had the realisation that all have late in life; that armour does not work, after a lifetime spent forging it..."

He is the Galilean, a living legend: a man with nano-technology flowing in his blood. It means he does not even have to wear a spacesuit as he roams the alien moons of Jupiter.

They are his charges: a group of slush miners who have contracted him to guide them across the salt ice of Europa moon. But none of them can begin to perceive the turmoil taking place in that man's soul...

Inspired by the famous Caspar David Friedrich painting of the same name, Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog is a compelling 12,000-word novelette about the spacefaring future of our species and the enduring rifts in the human condition.

I hope you enjoy it!

M.L. Hi folks!

This is about an opportunity for SF authors.

By way of background:
You probably know about #SPFBO started by Mark Lawrence. It's a blog-off competition open to all as long as the novel is fantasy (no SF) and self-published. This year's competition opened for submission on May 14 and was filled and competition closed the next day.

However - and the reason for this post: :)
A number of writers have asked for the same type competition for SF and for the first time there will be one this summer by Hugh Howey. Pretty cool!

https://hughhowey.com/the-spsfc-begins/

Check Hugh Howey's link for details re submission dates, length of MS, etc.
#SPSFC

Good luck and hope everyone is busy writing! :)

More info from Hugh Howey's link:

WRITING
The SPSFC begins!

Welcome to the Self-Published Science Fiction Competition! Or the spussfic, as we like to call it around here. What in the world is the SPSFC? It’s an opportunity to shine a great big laser beam on wonderful works of self-pubbed science fiction.

For a few years now, Mark Lawrence has been organizing a contest known as the Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off. Science fiction authors and bloggers have been clamoring for something similar. So with Mark’s blessing and science fiction’s habit of looking to its sister genre for inspiration, we are going to run this pretty much the same way.

Ten book bloggers, up to 300 science fiction novels, a year of reading and reviewing. We will end up with ten finalists and one winner. Next year, we will do it all over again.

The winner gets a badge and a blaster set to “stunning.” Most importantly, they get heaps of recognition and bragging rights. All the finalists and many of the entries will naturally get more eyeballs on their books, which is what authors and eye-eating aliens crave the most.

Some rules:

1) Your book must be a standalone or the first in a series.
2) One book per author. So send your best!
3) It must be a novel, not an anthology.
4) The book must be self-published and available for purchase now.
5) Works must be at least 50,000 words.

Phase 1 (June 30th – November 30th):

Each blogger will be assigned up to 30 novels. They will read as many as they feel compelled to finish. They then choose a finalist to send through to the end. They are of course encouraged to review any book they enjoy along the way.

They will also choose three books with their favorite cover art for a separate contest.

Phase 2 (December 1st – May 31st):

Each blogger will now read the other 9 finalists and vote for their favorite. They are encouraged to review any of the other finalists as well.

Phase 3:

We will announce an SPSFC winner for the best novel and best cover art. There will be much rejoicing and the making of merry. Unlike our fantasy friends, the ending will be swift and there will only be one curtain call.

What authors need to know:

On June 3oth, we will open to submissions. So mark your calendars now! Ebooks will need to be sent in .mobi or .epub format. If we get over 300 submissions, we will winnow them down based on a very subjective slush-pile criteria. All entries will be listed and linked to on an upcoming announcement page.

What bloggers need to know:

Applications are now open to be one of our ten reviewers! Simply click here and fill out the form. As a former book blogger and reviewer, I know what you’re in for. It will be a lot of work, but if you enjoy helping readers find hidden gems, it will be rewarding.
