Pemry Janes There's a sale for The Living Sword over at Smashwords, you can get the novella for 99 cents by using the code XQ72R.

Eurik was found adrift by the san and raised by them. Though he had read much about the outside world, he'd never considered leaving home. Not until his teacher revealed what he had inherited from his parents: a living sword, a sentient blade of rare power . . . and with it, the names of his father and mother.

Reluctant to go, yet curious, Eurik sets out to discover who they were, and what happened to them. But is he ready for all the attention his heritage will earn him? Can he survive in a world he has only read about?

The code is good until the 17th of February 2020.

Leonie Evening!

My publisher has just listed my upcoming release - Amethyst Pledge (17th April) as an ARC on Netgalley.

If you're on Netgalley and are interested, then it's at https://www.netgalley.com/widget/2148...

Amethyst Pledge by Leonie Rogers is a YA Fantasy.

'When Kazari answers the Lady’s call to serve, she never expects to take the amethyst of the Hunter, one of the select few who defend Albatar from the gorgones - demons brought from Beyond by the Second King. After all, at fifteen, she’s short and stocky, and not made of the stuff of legends. But the Lady, (she who created Albatar as a sanctuary for the faithful following the Gorgone War) has other ideas. And now rumours of gorgone attacks herald another war.

As a Hunter, a group whose exploits are legend within Albatar, Kazari is expected to play her part in the coming war. But as young and untrained as she is, and despite the gifts the Lady has given her, how can she live up to the legends of the past?

When gorgones attack the Abbey and threaten her family, Kazari doesn’t have a choice. And with Albatar under attack, even the Hunters’ gifts may not be enough to defeat the evil that threatens them all.'

Kyle McCurry Hello my name is Kyle McCurry. I am a new group member and I am the author of The Fleeing Company, which is the first book of The Drifters’ Road series.

The Fleeing Company tells of Adroegen and his friends being hunted by the goblin chief, under command of his master Vyroun, an evil lord in the north. Adroegen visits his friends one summer, but their home is then razed one night by the goblin chief, who had helped to kill all in Adroegen’s kin when Adroegen was a child. The goblin chief wants Adroegen to return a dark jewel known as the Night’s Jewel, which is said to gain loyalties of all foul creatures that walk in the night, and if in Vyroun’s hands, this jewel could gather many forces to him. Adroegen is told by the goblin chief that if he does not return this jewel, that he will hunt and slay Adroegen’s friends. Adroegen must then lead his friends, who had never fought before, into the wild and to someplace safe as they run from the goblin chief and his pack of goblins. And yet, Adroegen greatly wishes to slay the goblin chief, and he struggles between the need to keep his friends, who become his new kin as they venture on, safe from danger, and his desire to avenge his old kin that he lost years ago.

The story is an escapist tale of good and evil that takes place in a fairy tale, fantastical world that people would love to get lost in, with themes of family, friendship, finding what our purpose is, and whether or not there is a higher power that watches over us all.

There is a 10 book giveaway for The Fleeing Company that ends on March 1. The book is also available on Amazon.

Dominic Green Saucerers and Gondoliers (Ant and Cleo #1) by Dominic Green

Part one of the epic Ant and Cleo series from Hugo-nominated author Dominic Green.

UFOs do not land in country parks. They are not piloted by Englishmen. They do not have nameplates saying "HAWKER SIDDELEY AVIATION." And they are never, ever filled with smuggled catering packs of Monster Munch.

Britain has had a top secret colony in space for decades. Unfortunately, the colony has grown tired of being run by the mother country - and the mother country has decided it's time to send in the military. A war of independence is going on, and one man's rebel is another man's freedom fighter. Between these two sides are Anthony Stevens and Cleopatra Shakespeare, abducted from England and hurled into a war between Britain, America, and the newly, fiercely independent United States of the Zodiac. A black girl from Northampton is about to encounter the dystopian U.S. colony of New Dixie, where the Deep South lives again and the white man rules supreme - and both Ant and Cleo are about to discover that the Cold War never ended in outer space, and that the KGB are still alive and well out among the scarlet stars.

All flying saucer technology comes from the Saucerers, but who are they? Where is the mysterious hidden colony of Gondolin? How did the United States of America come to have interstellar spacecraft in the 1950s? And who or what is Truman J. Slughound the Third? Find out in a series guaranteed to contain colour-changing aliens, Godless communists from Altair, rednecks from Barnard's Star, space fighters, rocket pistols, death by ecstasy, very bad hair, and more explosions than you can shake a stick at.

J. Colford Hello, readers. I would like to introduce my books to you. I have written an allegorical/fantasy trilogy titled The Crucible of Honor.

This series of books chronicles the life of Kaled Del Danaal, king of Vasi-Kedar, beginning at age eleven. Kaled inherits his father’s throne under doubtful circumstances. Having been stranded in a farway realm for twelve years, he returns home to a realm he doesn’t remember. Vasi-Kedar, the beautiful realm of sea and mountains, suffers under the heavy yoke of poverty and ignorance, due to the indifference of royalty and nobility. Kaled, having acquired education and spiritual enlightenment, refuses to allow the continuance of his people’s suffering and the demise of the realm’s economy. With his beloved foreign bride, Shalia, they learn for themselves the depth of the poverty that pervades the capitol city of Khardan by walking the streets and speaking to the people. Feeling overwhelmed by the staggering extent of the poverty, and inadequate to the monumental task of overcoming it, Kaled beseeches his God for help, and receives an astounding vision of a future of prosperity.

In book one, The Standard of Honor, Kaled learns that the nobles and governors of the realm had taken advantage of his father’s untimely death to enact a tax law that brings them profit, while at the same time robbing the Crown and adding to the burdens already suffered by the poor of the realm. In his anger, Kaled declares Sovereign Law, taking full control of the governance of Vasi-Kedar, a move that sets most of the nobility against him. He begins the monumental task of cleaning up the city, the streets of which literally run with sewage, shouldering the bulk of the cost himself from the private Royal Treasury and gold mine. As this work progresses, he begins to seek a treaty and trade agreement with the prosperous neighboring realm of Medera, hoping that such will help the realm’s economy stagger to its feet. After two years, he finally gets an invitation to come to Medera to negotiate. Kaled is aware that leaving the realm for the time it would take to travel and to negotiate will open an opportunity for his half brother to attempt seizure of the throne, and leaving Shalia and his son behind would leave them vulnerable. He makes a decision to leave his most trusted soldiers and personal aide to protect his family, and sets out with an escort of civilian men, hand chosen and trained by his godfather, Captain Robert Elderson, to travel to Medera across the barren landscape of the Flatbush.

The titles of the books are:
The Standard of Honor
Kings and Honor
Soldiers of the Fire

All three are $2.99 on Kindle, free to read on Kindle Unlimited, and available in paperback format.

Here is the link to my Author central Page: https://authorcentral.amazon.com/gp/b...

There are an older version of my books shown on this site. The books with the black covers are the revised editions, and the only that are available.

I will offer information on the second and third books in the next couple of weeks.

David Cuff Just to let you all know, the Kindle edition of my novel "The Last Noah" will be free tomorrow and Sunday (March 14, 15) to download from the link below.

Robin and Miranda go to bed in their separate rooms, but wake up somewhere else. Somewhere that is alien and way outside their comfort zone. However, as they discover more about their new surroundings and have several unusual and action-packed adventures, they begin to suspect that all may not be as it first seemed. As the days progress, their passion for each other grows as their relationship develops emotionally and physically. However, is someone or something watching them? Why do they keep discovering things which don’t feel right? And what’s the story behind the various androids who they meet during their adventures?

As well as being a fast-moving science fiction action and adventure novel, this book touches on several social topics. Covert surveillance; humanity’s journey after the extinction of Earth; how AI might develop; and whether humans would, one day, upload their minds into robots (and, if so, what sort of society might result?)

As an ‘aside’ to the plot, there are twenty-two hidden references to well-known science fiction movies and TV shows throughout the book. Challenge yourself – can you find them all?

Nicholas King Hello. My name's Nicholas King. I've been a reviewer on Goodreads for many years and finally published my first novel through Amazon. It's called Blood And Stone and is an urban fantasy novel. The lead character, Nicodemus Atalante, is a mercenary wizard who gets pulled into a murder investigation. Think Dresden Files meets Hellblazer, with World of Darkness sprinkled in for flavor.

Star Treque: Attack of the Kinky Slave Girls! -- An Erotic Parody (Collar World Book 6) Now On Amazon

Amazon Link

International Bookstore Link

I enjoyed parodying "Late Night On Onion Station" so I thought I'd give parody another shot, this time a SLIGHTLY better-known property, "Star Trek." I'm a fan, watched TOS, the Next Generation and some episode of Voyager and Enterprise, as well as all of the movies. I even married a woman who went to Dragoncon wearing a tribble suit. I didn't marry her FOR that reason, but it should be noted that it didn't deter me in the slightest, in fact, it was cool to me.

So I felt fully qualified to parody Star Trek. I decided to base my parody on TOS, because let's face it, there's a LOT of room for parody there. Most especially sexual parody, since The Original Series was an unreconstructed product of the sixties, with Captain Kirk jumping on any green-skinned alien woman he can find and Lt. Baskethead (I mean, Rand) sexing up the show for no particular reason, a task soon taken over by Nichelle Nichols.

I didn't entirely confine myself to TOS characters, I included Lieutenant Worf (Lt. Rorf Woof in my story) from Next Generation mainly because I was going to have Klingons, too, and he would come in handy for several reasons.

For the same reason, I had an Orion slave girl ("Aurion" in my story) as a cultural attache on the crew, helping integrate the Orions into the Federation, or as I called it, the Agglomeration. Encountering the Empire of the Collar (essentially, Collar World in space with gigantic men, because why the hell not?) the Participation Prize crew would naturally call on an Aurion slave girl for advice on how to deal with such a sexy menace.

Especially since the Empire of the Collar is technologically far in advance of both the Agglomeration and the Klingons (“Klaxons” in my story). It would have made an interesting story for Star Trek, except of course that Star Trek would never have been sex-positive and kink-positive.

And of course, being an erotic parody I was free to follow the sexiest, kinkiest elements of the story as far as I wanted to, which was very far, indeed. And I did not neglect the humor either, I had a LOT of fun with story and characters.

It's a shame media Trek could never follow where I have gone before. I've been to science fiction conventions, I've SEEN what the fan base gets up to, left on their own. They would have loved it. In the meantime, there's my parody, I'm hoping fans will love it. Maybe you will, too. Either way, live long and pump her.

Allison Hurd Pat, we're not really an erotic-focused book club. In fact I'd go so far as to say that this club is not really one for books about sexy slave girls or "collared" anyone. While I have no intention of kink-shaming, I can say that we work really hard to make sure that our group members feel respected and secure in their autonomy which...gets hard to do if our "promotions" folder gets filled up with stories about sexual slavery and sub/dom relationships that don't seem based on healthy lifestyle practices.

I think there are some BDSM clubs on GR that might be more welcoming of your writing :)

Karen Karlitz Hi,

My new novel, "STONER GHOSTS OF SANTA MONICA," was just released today https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084H38518 This book is available in e-Book and paperback.

An optimistic spin on the afterlife where fun, love, creativity and friendship flourish, it is a story of people who are dead but party on.

Protagonist Henry Davis kicks the bucket at a Los Angeles hospital. Unlike Elvis who has left the building, Henry's still there and aware of everything around him, including his toxic ex-wife's hookup attempt with his doctor. So begins Henry's stint in the spirit world.

Having come of age in '60s and '70s New York City, Henry quickly discovers he can get high by inhaling the second-hand smoke of the living potheads at the Santa Monica apartment building he inhabits. Much of this imbibing takes place at the pool.

Whether hitching a ride on the back of an oblivious surfer's bike, helping his deceased buddy in apartment 105 find a dead mate in T.J. Maxx or stowing aboard a cruise ship to Cabo, Henry navigates the afterlife with heart and humor, encountering a diverse bunch of characters from both worlds.

Thanks for taking a look at my new book!

The confinement this pandemic is forcing on people can be devastating to the mental and emotional well being of millions of people. We all need a distraction. C.S. Cooper Hi all,

Coronavirus sucks!

I was at a convention a few weeks ago, and I sold 83 copies in two days. Very pleased with that. The next convention on the following weekend was not so good, and I only sold 34. I still outsold all the other authors, but it's not up to my standards, I feel. I was enthused by my succes. And I was going to sell books at another convention the following weekend. I was also booked in to travel to the US for WonderCon in Anaheim California.

I ordered four cartons of books for my next convention, had one carton left over from my previous convention, and had ordered seven cartons to be printed in the US and shipped to my hotel in Anaheim. An investment equalling about $2400.

And then all the conventions were cancelled ... thanks to Coronavirus.

Now, I'm stuck with five cartons of books in my apartment, and seven cartons stuck at my hotel in Anaheim. It's going to cost me another $1500 to get them to my country! 😀😀😂😂😭
That's almost $7000 in revenue I'm not going to see. And I've got a lot of bills coming soon.

I guess that's been the case for a lot of businesses however. At least my product isn't perishable.

Anyway, I've built myself a webpage so that people can purchase their own signed copy of the book. If anyone would like to support me, you can go there and order a signed copy for AUD$24.99 plus postage. And I will post ANYWHERE in the world.

Joseph Wycoff My historical fantasy, Arcane Cage: Being a Historical Narrative of Fantastic Events During the Decline and Fall of the Provenance is available for $0.99 on Kindle* until March 31, 2020. The story takes place in a fantasy world setting, narrated as if a historical text based on archival sources. I entered it as a fantasy novel for the BookLife 2019 Prize and, though not a finalist, the critic offered this praise:

"The great historical sweep of the entire book, and the account of Siddrah's quest for the talismanic Archon, are richly imagined and lavishly depicted. There is a classical historian's tone to this fantasy epic, with echoes of Tolkien and other fantasy greats. The singular construction of an imaginary world, culture and even a literary heritage is impressive...If George R.R. Martin and Herodotus held a writing seminar, this dense account of an imaginary land might be the result." Publishers Weekly, BookLife Prize 2019 [Critic's Report]

I tried to imagine a world in which the advent of magic portended democratization, social mobility, and gender equity. There are no kings or queens, princes or princesses, or gratuitous violence. The book is as much about a place and time (see the subtitle) as it is about a band of "arcanists" on a dangerous quest. See my website, posts category "Arcane Cage," for more information and a sample chapter.

* It is a print replica of the paperback so it does not work on all Kindle readers.

J. Colford My newest book, Realms and Kings, is currently available for pre-order on Kindle. It will be available to read in both formats on April 30. This second trilogy is a continuation of the story in the Crucible of Honor Trilogy. Kaled pursues an opportunity to sit in on the Council of Kings in Tyria, the trade capitol of the known world. As he seeks trade and alliance opportunities, forty of his Royal Guard and Cavalry soldiers will compete in the venerated War Games that run simultaneously with the Council, and a delegation from Vasi-Kedar will display crafts and wares at the Trade Fair, presenting the goods Vasi-Kedar has to offer. While in Tyria, two of the officers, one from Vasi-Kedar and one from Medera, will conduct a covert mission of seeking information as to what mystery realm has replaced the Calaran warships that were destroyed three years earlier, and what this mystery realm seeks in return for assisting Calara's king, Louis.

The cover for this book is currently a mockup and may change by the time the book is actually available.

Adrian Deans A question for the Moderators...

My next book will be out in a couple of months but I'm not sure it's entirely appropriate for this group. It is a dystopian story set in 2030, in a world profoundly changed by quantum computing, but if I had to identify its genre I'd probably say satirical crime thriller.

I don't want to break group rules by posting something that doesn't quite belong here, although it is certainly full of the challenging concepts and questions which characterise good sci-fi.

Any advice?

Paul Polakis In this sci fi novel, codified allegories to human history and geopolitics are used to explore the relationships of nation-states and the citizens within them. The nations, portrayed as humanoid giants, and their citizens, as their tiny operators, are at war over territory, technology and faith. This unique story is conveyed through the parallel perspectives of the tiny inhabitants and the giants harboring them.

The fate of the BioVessel Thomas and its thirty million citizens rests in the hands of Champlain Hartwick, captain of the V-Centimedi defense station. Terrorists, intent on spreading radical ideology, have infected the Thomas and recruited a traitor within to help them hijack a neighboring vessel. Champlain, and his unlikely compatriots, must engage in a clandestine effort to unravel their plot and stop them from wreaking havoc on all of Terrangea. Thomas the Aent, unaware that he is an insentient vessel operated by his tiny inhabitants, must deal with the spread of what he sees as an infection crippling the Aents.

Sorry Adrian, notifications have been a little wonky lately, just saw this.

As long as it's in the genre family and isn't erotica, I think you're safe!

J. Colford Book one of the Crucible of Honor Trilogy, The Standard of Honor, will be free through Kindle on April 8 and April 9.
Kaled Del Danaal III, summoned from undeserved exile to claim his father's throne, discovers he has inherited a realm on the brink of financial and moral collapse. Vasi-Kedar is impoverished beyond his imagination. When he discovers the nobles and governors had taken advantage of his father's untimely death to enact a tax law that further oppresses the poor, Kaled dares to take action so audacious that the nobles are rocked to their core. From the onset of his administration, he is opposed by the nobles, who fear their privileged lifestyle is in jeopardy. Having walked his city with his young queen, and both seeing the extreme poverty of his people, Kaled begins to implement a vision of restoration that is extraordinary in its scope.
After aprolonged effort, Kaled finally secures an opportunity to negotiate a possible trade agreement and treaty with a neighboring wealthy realm that could give Vasi-Kedar's economy the boost it needs to stagger to its feet. Kaled must travel to Medera for the negotiations, aware that his long absence opens a door for his ambitious half brother to make a bid for the throne, and leaves his wife and son vulnerable. Afraid to take any loyal soldiers with him, he embarks on his perilous mission with a company of civilian men who had been trained in warfare by retired captain Robert Elderson, Kaled's childhood mentor and godfather. He is not aware when he begins his journey that someone else is watching, ready to make a lethal move against him.

T.C. Weber Hi everyone!

I just finished a near-future cyberpunk trilogy in which an unemployed bipolar journalist and her hacktivist friends try to stop a giant media corporation and a corrupt president from controlling the world. The first book, Sleep State Interrupt, was a Compton Crook finalist for best first speculative fiction novel.

If you'd like to take a look, the first two books are out: Sleep State Interrupt and The Wrath of Leviathan. The final book, Zero-Day Rising, comes out Sep. 1 (See Sharp Press). And there's an odd mix of short stories on my web site under "Free Stuff."

Enjoy,

T.C. Weber
