Noor Al-Shanti It's finally here! My Epic Fantasy novel is out!

https://books2read.com/u/bQ6Yqd

King Sharr of the Kingdom of Shining Waters was not a particularly brave man. When he heard that the Mad Sorcerer was creeping up the mountainside he fled the fortress city, practically handing it over to the Mad Sorcerer, and made his abode in Dalaiabeth: the King’s City. His palace lay behind high walls on one side of the great lake and Dalaiabeth lay almost defenseless on the other. Even behind the high walls of his palace the King worried. Most of all, he was afraid for his young daughter, the Lady Shila.

It was the palace blacksmith that offered the King salvation from his fears. “Why not adopt an orphan boy from the city?” he asked. “He will grow up with the Lady Shila, learn to love her as a sister, and he will protect her when the matters of the Kingdom take you away from her.”

So the King sent three trusted men to bring him a suitable boy from the city orphanage.

But it was more than three men that knocked on little Dargoth’s door the next day. His mother tried to protect him, but she was no match for the unit of trained soldiers that took her little boy, Dargoth from her, claiming that he was wanted to fight in the war.

As Dargoth and his mother struggle to reunite, the Mad Sorcerer’s relentless attacks throw their Kingdom into chaos and despair, and they find themselves up against forces and intrigues far beyond what they could have imagined.

THE IDOL IN THE HEDGE MAZE: A Lovecraftian Novelette is a modern-day sequel to H.P. Lovecraft's dark fantasy/sci-fi novella, "The Shadow Out Of Time." It tells the tale of mega-wealthy Neil Prentiss, founder and CEO of PrenTek, a multinational technology company. He lives in a magnificent mansion surrounded by a sprawling hedge maze. He has everything a person could want in today's world ... but he is dying of cancer.

While examining the journals of the mansion's previous owner, Neil learns how to contact a member of the Great Race of Yith, an ancient society of brilliant but monstrous beings. The Yithian offers what seems to be a high-tech solution to Neil's problems, and the intrepid businessman decides to proceed with the creature's plan. Along the way, Neil invites his trusted childhood friend Zander to come and stay with him. Zander soon realizes that the Yithian's extraordinary kindness and generosity may actually hide a shocking ulterior motive....

Christina Goebel Hi, everyone!

My illustrated science fiction epic fantasy book, Birth Right: Galak's Rising is running promos this weekend for free or for 99 cents, so I wanted to share that deal. June 14th it's free; June 16th and 17th, it's going for 99 cents.

Birth Right Galak's Rising by Christina Goebel

A reviewer from the Midwest Book Review described its genre best: "Sci-fi and fantasy readers seeking a story that bridges several subgenres and fills its pages with impossible challenges and hope against all odds will find Birth Right: Galak's Rising an excellent story that stands well on its own, but sets the stage for more stories in the series. It's a vivid, memorable tale of choices, consequences, and their lasting impact on the future of humanity that will linger in the mind long after the final struggle's outcome."

What do you do when the world's greatest power has no conscience?

Two, not of blood, but joined in blood,
may conquer only as a selfless act of love.
-from The Prophecy of the Dancers of Silence

In the illustrated dystopian epic fantasy Birth Right: Galak's Rising by Christina Goebel, Galak, a cruel cyborg obsessed with creating a race of superior beings, demands that Valki twins compete for a Birthright allowing them to have children.

The courage of two young women to resist Galak's law pits princes, kings, and mighty warriors against a merciless foe.

If this book suits your reading style, I hope you enjoy it! ~Christina

David Dobson Hi, all, and thanks for providing this space.

I'd like to introduce my new humorous heroic fantasy novel, Flames Over Frosthelm, published earlier this week. It introduces the Inquisitor's Guild, the investigative branch of law enforcement in the medieval city of Frosthelm. Two young Provisional Inspectors stumble upon a dangerous wizard, a scheming noble, and an ancient prophecy. The humor is pervasive, but the story comes first. It's subtle rather than zany, and what I was shooting for was Princess Bride meets CSI.

120,000 words, and the story finishes with the book - no need to wait for sequels.

I hope you enjoy! Any feedback or questions are welcome.

Andy Giesler Published June 14th:

The Nothing Within is literary rural-dystopian post-apocalyptic neo-Amish fantasy-like science fiction with existential ethical dilemmas and a splash of ninja.

A biological disaster reverberates in Ohio Amish country generations after the near-extinction of the human race. The story follows Root, a daring outlier in a culture shaped by conformity and fear. Leaving the safety of her village, Root’s journey will show her the truth: that her world has been twisted by people trying to save it.

The Kindle edition is on sale for $0.99 until July 4th, and a free promotion is planned for June 22nd through June 24th.

Donnally Miller I am running a free book promotion for the Kindle version of my novel The Devil's Workshop on Amazon from July 1 to July 5. Here is a link to the book: https://www.amazon.com/Devils-Worksho...
The Devil's Workshop is a philosophical look at love and death, disguised as a gripping pirate romance. It is set in a fantasy land called the Coast, which is much like the Caribbean of the eighteenth century. Genuinely tragic while also being very funny, it tells the tale of Tom and Katie, two lovers who have parted just as the Son of Light has been killed and the forces of evil are conspiring to bring civilization to an end by depriving language of all meaning. The slaves rebel, an Indian war breaks out and pirates have entered Cutthroat Bay to purloin the giant emerald from the eye of Maddibimbo the monkey god. Follow Katie and Tom as they traverse the treacherous roads and reefs of the Coast in their quest to be reunited.

A. Maldon Hi,

My collection of five short sci-fi stories is currently available for free through Kindle Unlimited.

It's called Random Number Generator and other stories and at 80 pages it makes for a nice quick read.

I like to write fast-paced action stories that explore the psychology of people who react to finding themselves in extreme situations by pushing themselves as hard as they can.

Random Number Generator and other stories by A. Maldon

Here's the blurb:

Random Number Generator

Persistent attacks by an unknown enemy have rendered almost everything humanity has built a smoking ruin. The number of those murdered runs into the billions. Against near-incalculable odds we continue to stand firm, extracting victory and hope from the most slender of sources. But just how far have we gone in delaying our extinction?

This is a short story that explores this question against a background of armageddon executed via exotic mathematics.

********************************************************************

The twins

An alarming extract from the diary of a long-dead xenoarchaeologist.

********************************************************************

She lived across the lake

Stranded on an island far from earth with no hope of rescue, a community focuses its rage on a man whose only concern is to refine the act of worship to its ultimate expression.

This tale asks to what length a man will debase himself for an ideal - and explores how much he is willing to sacrifice.

********************************************************************

BOGOF

A glimpse into a world where feelings have become a fungible commodity.

********************************************************************

Crash site

The potential to upset and redraw civilisation as we know it lurks within the result of an extraterrestrial accident.

message 128: by David (new)

David Craig Revenge, responsibility, confrontation and consequences. A hot desert land of diverse peoples dealing with demons, mages, natural disasters … and the Black Rose assassins.

The ebook edition of my 2nd novel, Thorns of a Black Rose, is now available for pre-order, published by Elsewhen Press. The ebook will be released on all popular ebook platforms on 26 July, and the paperback will be released on 19 October. It's about 75k words, a standalone prequel to my in-progress fantasy series. It's ideal for those either burned out by long multi-volume series that take decades to be completed, or want to read an adventure in a setting outwith the usual Western Europe-esque worlds.

The press release from the publisher: https://elsewhen.press/index.php/2019...

It's a fantasy novel, set in a land inspired by Ancient Egypt, Morocco and the Sahara. The series will follow a small band of diverse, intrepid, and morally ambiguous adventurers as they cross the world on an overarching quest, enduring hot deserts, humid rainforest, snow-capped mountains and dark, frozen forests. My goal is to write a modern take on the sword & sorcery genre, creating a world of strife and intrigue, revealed to the reader through my band of (mis)adventurers. I hope this linear approach (rather than simultaneously showing multiple locales with multiple sets of characters) will keep the series tightly focused.

Each novel is intended to tell a standalone tale, while contributing to an overall arc. This novel introduces the reader to three of the protagonists; Shukara (mage), Tamira (thief), and Jassan (desert ranger). It starts in the ancient red-stoned city of Mask, where the protagonists must survive the politics and intrigues of the priest-ruled theocracy. But this is just where their adventure starts...

I'm happy to discuss and answer questions.

A band of survivors demand attention—and they're willing to shed blood to get it.

Seraph Aydrain and Sadhis Loxai are tasked with investigating Earth after growing reports of violence and group uprising. "We're in a sci-fi and fantasy group on Goodreads, Xavier," Luna answered, running her fingers down the magnificent creature's side. "We came here to promote Bad Unicorn, remember?"

"Yeah, well, I'm bored already," Xavier replied, unleashing an unnaturally-loud yawn. "Wake me up when you're done."

"Oh, no," Murin said to the unicorn. "We're doing this together. All three of us. Unless you'd rather do it alone."

"Fine," Xavier replied, stomping his hoof. "You two will take too long. I'll tell them myself."

"Go ahead, then!" both Murin and Luna said at the same time.

"Bad Unicorn is a lighthearted fantasy novel about the three of us discovering an evil wizard's plot to destroy all the unicorns so he can take their horns. We go on an action-packed quest to stop him and a bunch of stuff happens. It's a book you won't want to miss. Although, it should've been called Awesome Unicorn, if you ask me," Xavier said, then turned to face Murin and Luna. "There. Can we go now?"

"Just one more thing," Luna replied. "Tell them where they can get Bad Unicorn."

"Bad Unicorn is available on Amazon in print and ebook format. And it's free to read with Kindle Unlimited."
