D.J. Hamilton Greetings!
Here we go then. Hopefully posting in the right place this time. I'm not new to goodreads but I am new to shameless plugs about my own book: The Resurgence. The finest example of space faring literature released (in Hertfordshire, UK) this week - Possibly. Certainly top 100. No doubt about that.
This is the sequel to a story entitled the Administration that I wrote many moons ago during my Masters degree and completed a short while later after starting work in London. This short book is set on the planet of Acto - a frontier planet within a loose federation of colonised worlds known as the Planetary Network. The Administration was eventually published in 2018 to no acclaim whatsoever but it did entertain some friends and family. That's what they tell me anyway.

After various adventures the two main protagonists, the brothers Vil and Cassus Toradon, end up overthrowing the local Governor for admittedly slightly spurious reasons. Fast forward ten years to the Resurgence and Cassus is Governor of a now united Acto. The Acatvians have retained a pioneering mentality and Cassus in particular has grow increasingly frustrated with the stagnation of the federation. He uses the considerable resources now at his disposal to develop and launch a new class of ship - The mighty Perga, ostensibly on a quest to find their missing explorer parents. The Perga blasts off from an orbital station into the unknown leaving a reluctant Vil as the interim Governor back on Acto.

I won't go into any more further detail here but I will say that this latest offering is 'lightyears' ahead of its predecessor. It's a light hearted romp that I enjoyed writing and whilst it is neither particularly clever nor a literary marvel it is, I hope, a story that might bring a smile or two to the reader. I would be keen to receive some feedback as I occasionally mull over whether to start the third and final book in this series. Hopefully it won't take me another 20 years...

Michael Beadley I hope this promotion is ok. This is definitely the best book written by someone with a pen name that is Michael Beadley ever. All the reviews on Goodreads are 5 stars but that is partly because I am the only person to have put a review so far.
It is a cheerful book - here is the synopsis
In the beginning of the 22nd century, life seemed good for humanity. The problems of global warming in the early 21st century, Islamic terrorism etc only existed in the past. Both Venus and Mars had been terraformed and as the world's population never recovered fully from the flu pandemics of the mid-21st century, overcrowding is no longer a problem.

Suddenly two horrible shocks happen. Firstly, hideous looking aliens nicknamed Ogres or Uglies invaded 12th July 2114 and the Earth quickly surrendered. They claimed sovereignty over Earth and demanded an annual tribute of slaves from Earth.

In June 2116 modified humans called Scorpions, overthrew the aliens, and freed the earth.

Not only was humanity shocked by the aliens but by the fact that modified super humans had been living among them secretly for many years.

It was decided that as humanity was not alone in the Universe that using captured alien technology a planet B in a separate solar system is needed - to ensure that humanity could survive another invasion. So, 5 years later a human fleet set off to find a second home for humanity a planet B. However, the fleet was not quite 100% human, a friendly alien species called – Greys - like the classic aliens of science fiction were with them.

This is a complete story and finishes Planet B part 1, no cliff hangers at the end – but a sequel will be out soon

Adam Bender No need to spin this news… My dystopian satire novel Utopia PR just won best humor book in the 2021 IndieReader Discovery Awards!

Utopia PR received this glowing verdict from IndieReader reviewers:

"Adam Bender’s UTOPIA PR is not a story about a dystopian future, politics, nor morality but mainly about the power of the word–of information, of rhetoric, of argument–and the ability to persuade people. Narrated by a skilled and intelligent protagonist who speaks directly to the reader/viewer, it is a fun and efficient book, but also scary: like all good fiction, it uses sarcasm to make readers think about the world outside."

Thank you very much to IndieReader for declaring Utopia PR this year’s best humor book, and for thinking that I’m funny — something that I will be sure to bandy about to all my friends and family. I’m so happy to bring a little laughter into our dark times.

Please add it to your to-read list today!

Chris Dardick Please check out our debut hard science fiction novel ‘Sudden Onset’ that released today on Amazon in paperback and e-book. If you like Andy Weir, then this book is probably for you. Having a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology, I worked with my brother Tom Dardick and together we spent 10 years ensuring the story and the science were as accurate and plausible as possible. The book explores the origin of life and touches on the intersection of science and faith through the story of microbiologist Mira Wallace, whose search for the first life on earth is interrupted by a mysterious biological threat that appears in the Utah desert. As she works tirelessly to investigate and stop SONA we explore questions like: How did life first arise on earth? Did it only happen once and could it happen again? and Are we alone in the Universe?

We have been blessed to have great reviews so far. Please give them a read to learn more. Also, links to our book trailer and website are below:

Max Mason The Tarks; with friends like these, who needs enemies?
As excerpted from the USF cultural index:
TARKS
A carnivorous, Arachnoid race at the interstellar tech level; ~2.2m tall, bipedal, possessing hands with dual opposable thumbs and venomous talons, they are ferocious warriors. Mute, they converse via a complex "scent speak" of powerful pheromones combined with sign language.
Yet, the Zrax find them "lacking" as opponents.

Max Mason On the perfect Ean mate
In other Humanoid species, they were attracted by distinctiveness, by specific traits and attributes that stood out within a broad range of personal preferences for both sexes. But what made an Ean female attractive to an Ean male was her ability to not stand out; the less distinctive she was, the better, the more common, the more attractive.

David Cuff The Last Noah by David Cuff
Hello everyone. This is just to let you all know that my novel The Last Noah is on sale at amazon.com until Thursday (24th).

Robin and Miranda go to bed in their separate rooms, but wake up somewhere else. Somewhere that is alien and way outside their comfort zone. However, as they discover more about their new surroundings and have several unusual and action-packed adventures, they begin to suspect that all may not be as it first seemed. As the days progress, their passion for each other grows as their relationship develops emotionally and physically. However, is someone or something watching them? Why do they keep discovering things that don’t feel right? And what’s the story behind the various androids who they meet during their adventures?

As well as being a fast-moving science fiction action and adventure novel, this book touches on several social topics. Covert surveillance; humanity’s journey after the extinction of Earth; how AI might develop; and whether humans would, one day, upload their minds into robots (and, if so, what sort of society might result?)

In space, nobody is watching your reality. Or are they? Follow the mysterious adventures of our two unwilling space travellers, and discover what is really going on...

★★★★ A unique take on the sci-fi genre which throws questions at you from the word ‘go’
★★★★★ Nice easy read with several interesting twists along the way
★★★★★ The suspense is gripping
★★★★★ Cuff's wonderful ability to relate the story so finely adds immense enjoyment to the overall reading experience!
★★★★★ Fun book; Good read, interesting characters and plot.

The Remarkable Adventures of Zlorn the Unremarkable

It's available as Kindle download or in paperback form, from Amazon.

Zlorn Marjaestk is a small, shy, unassuming Surellian man who wants nothing more than to live his mediocre life in peace. But the fates had other plans for him, and he was given a mission. The mission was simple: carry a message to another planet, and then come home. What could go wrong? Quite a lot, apparently. Lies, political intrigue, a brewing intergalactic civil war, pirates, a mysterious unknown planet, and more money than anyone has ever thought of before. With a sassy blue alien hired to be his bodyguard, the wholly unremarkable Zlorn embarks on what turns out to be quite a remarkable

or you can download a free review copy (reviewing is optional, but I'd love to hear what you thought of it) at

The Hammond Conjecture
Here's the blurb:

The Hammond Conjecture is an alternative-history novel which explores themes of memory, identity and historical narrative. It is also a lot of fun.
Are you sure you know who you are? If your memories disappeared and were replaced with someone else’s, would you still be you? And what if those memories were not just from another person - but of a different world?
London 1982 – perhaps. Regaining consciousness in an isolation ward of catatonic patients, glimpsing the outside world only through a television news bulletin, that is the dilemma facing Hugh Hammond.
Gradually Hugh’s memories return – of his life as an MI6 officer a decade earlier. But in a world where Britain has been locked in a lonely Cold War against a Fascist-dominated Europe. Are his memories false: delusions, or implanted as part of a mind-control experiment? Or was the television news fake – and if so, why?

Hugh types out his recollections: an adventure which takes him from an opium den in Limehouse, via a hippie encampment in British-occupied North France, to a State Reception for the Deputy Führer in the Durbar Court in Whitehall, and to a Le Carré-style climax in the divided city of Paris.

Lou Kemp My book The Violins Played before Junstan (the prequel) is available on Amazon. It is the prequel to a multi-book series. (I'm loading a much better cover next week, and welcome any feedback on it, along with the book itself)
Description:
It is part magical realism, speculative fiction, mystery, and adventure (a poster-book for the richness of cross -genre). In 2018, the beginning of this story, by the same title, appeared in the MWA anthology Odd Partners, and is the catalyst of the book series.
Blurb:
It is 1865, and The Violins Played before Junstan begins in San Francisco as an immortal magician, automat, and widower from Juba in the Sudan travel the world. They encounter the usual entities: witches, vampires, and enemies who sometimes can't be seen. Their friendship grows as the danger escalates, and by book two, they've also acquired Pelaez, Celwyn's immortal brother who is also a magician, but not nearly as nice of a person to be stuck in the catacombs of Palermo with. Pelaez is also the protagonist of Farm Hall, the companion book to the series.

Light-years away on Earth, Elspeth Tanner—a gifted young UN interpreter in New York—is devastated on learning of the murder of her best friend, Susan. However, Susan wasn’t who she claimed to be, and in a shocking revelation, the secrets she harboured will change Elspeth’s life forever.

Now, in a desperate move, Kyrenapur leads a covert team to reach Tanner before the Qai’dinium threat closes in. Worlds collide as they discover she may not only hold the key to Earth’s salvation but to that of the entire human race!

Darryl Temple Hi,

My name is Darryl J. W. Temple. I’m a 41-year-old part-time author from Perth, Australia. I’ve just released my debut title called:

A Dark Ocean’s Descent, Heridian Series Book One.

A Dark Ocean's Descent by Darryl J.W. Temple

I first planned this idea around ’93 whilst in high school and it wasn’t until 2007 that I seriously began learning the writing trade. I put a lot of time and effort into my own skills before starting the title and used it to cut my teeth on.

On the surface this book reads like many “Spaceship goes pew-pew” science fiction novels, with action, evil machines, strange creatures, horror, and a dash of humour. There are, however, many layers beneath that might not seem apparent at first.

I’ll use the book cover as an example and not give away any spoilers:

There’s a grey armoured hand, belonging to the main protagonist, reaching up for the ship. Is he reaching in vain or maybe trying to catch the vessel? Is he releasing the ship instead? The questions above all relate to the story. They are part of the relationship between the protagonist and the vessel, but only on the surface.

The vessel represents something more and IS something more. Apply these questions to that answer once you come across it, and the level beneath makes more sense.

The main protagonist is a soldier named “Draethus” who is very black and white with his morals. He tries to sacrifice himself for a greater good and finds that the universe isn’t ready to see him off just yet. Draethus discovers that to achieve his goals he must work in the grey area, (interesting how his armour is grey right?). Over the story his character evolves and develops into someone he wouldn’t have recognized at the start.

The second protagonist is a mixed human/alien breed pirate named “Xain Raeson”. He’s led a harsh life in the void and solves his problems with murder, that’s right he’s not very likable… at first. Xain has a problem, he’s developing a conscience and a strange empathy and caring for the people around him. This pirate also leads a wing of pilots that are just as messed up.

When the ancient star vessel appears, the ship infiltrates both men’s minds. This is where the subject of consciousness begins, but I’ll leave that for you to discover.

Overall, this has been such an epic journey creating this work. At the time of writing this, I have completed the first draft of the second book.

Something of note: If you own the Hardcover copy, look under the dust jacket on the back and you might find something interesting…

-Darryl.
