A masterful combination of history and fiction to reveal the race issues in thoroughbred racing. As an author myself, I appreciate the meticulous research into actual people from the 1850's to 1870's. I also enjoyed how the author connected three times periods to the legacy of what is considered the most highly regarded racehorse.
