Audrey Driscoll Okay, I just "liked" this post. For me, that means "I read it and maybe I liked it, or some of it, or maybe it didn't do much for me, but it didn't make enough of an impression for me to comment." For me, "like" means "OK."
The only social media type things I do are my WordPress blog and reviews on Goodreads. I'm not particularly social either, and I dislike the idea of juggling a bunch of socials. It's all I can do to keep up with blogs and email.
I do think comments are the main reason to be in the blogosphere. It took me a few years to start reading other bloggers' posts and commenting on them, but when I started doing that, others began to read and comment on my posts.
As writers, I think our blogs are examples of our skills, and even our spontaneous comments are a way to show how well we can express ourselves. If I notice interesting and well-written posts or comments by a blogger who is also an author, I will likely have a look at their books.
If I didn't care whether anyone read my posts, I wouldn't take the time, trouble, and expense to put them out there. Writing with a pen in a notebook is a lot less bother than maintaining a blog.
I've just started reading Chateau Clare; I'm expecting to be entertained and diverted!

Hi Audrey,
I am very sorry I've not replied to your comments here on Goodreads until now. Until now, I've never looked at my blog posts here. The only thing of mine that I look at here is my author dashboard, so all your comments to date have gone unnoticed by me until now. I feel bad about that, as it is my policy, and indeed, my obligation to acknowledge everyone who takes the time to comment on what I've written. I guess there is that alarm thingy, but, well, as I said above, that revolution passed me by.

Anyways, a very belated thank you for reading and responding to my blog posts. I promise to keep up to date on posts here - I always enjoy what people have to say.

So, thank you for responding to my posts.
Cheers,
Chuck
