Hi Eve-Aaliyah,

Welcome to the word of audio books!

Your local library is a good place to start. They may offer Hoopla, which is an app that offers free Audio books, e-books, movies, magazines, etc. Hoopla has "Borrows" that you can access for each month (depending on your library). You can get this app for your PC, phone, or tablet.

Libby is another free app that you can use (through your library) that basically does the same thing. I have four library cards that I use in Libby. If I search for a book, Libby will search all four libraries and I can see what's available to check out or which audio book will give me the shortest "hold" time.

Both apps are my go-to places first before I buy or use my Audible credits on. Hope this helps.

Amy If you are a fan of works which are older than 98 years, then LibriVox will be perfect for you. They are an offshoot of Project Gutenberg, which strives to digitize printed material.
All involved in LibriVox are volunteers so some of the recordings you may find less than palatable. My experience has been that when a recoding isn’t too great, that other folks will record another version of it.
All the books are in the public domain, so that’s how they are able to provide them at no charge.

Also some professional voice artists will donate their talents and have read many of the books listed on the 13K+ database.
I have read so many books through

Amy The platform and I’m a big fan. Sorry for the break in my comment but on my phone I could no longer view my writing, due to the keyboard frame overlapping the text field. A bug in the iOS version of Goodreads. If anyone has any questions about LibriVox I’ll be happy to try and help you. 💚

Leonor Woodworth Recently, I've discovered more and more audiobooks on YouTube. And, yes, there are ads. Be careful to only listen to audiobooks posted either by the author/publisher/narrator. Other YT postings may be pirating of the author's work.
