We love cartoons, and if you joined this group, so do you. People enjoy sharing cartoons on social media, posting them on refrigerators, and describing them to friends. What is it about cartoons that make them so popular and such an enduring part of our culture? Who are some of your favorite cartoonists?

Whenever I see a cartoon on a friend's refrigerator, I ask what they liked about it. Though answers vary, something about the cartoon struck a personal chord. Whether revealing an essential truth--in a funny way--about life at work, home, or among family and friends, the cartoon says something profound about the person who taped it up for all to see. Do you have a favorite cartoon that speaks to you that way?
carroons are great because, like good writing or good art, folks will come away a cartoon with something different depending on their experience. as a kid i loved berkeley breathed's bloom county, even though i didn't get all the references. as an adult i got something different from it from rereading, but i could still appreciate what i saw as a kid. i'd have to say my all-time favorite gag cartoonist is gary larson.
