Cate - Thanks so much for your deep reading of the book and thoughtful, very kind, comments. You're not the first to note that it took a long time to get to the trial. In my own defense, the first words in the title are "The Holocaust in Ukraine." It believed that without first providing the context for the trial, the narrative of the trial itself would have been stripped of its power and consequence.
