Thank you very much, Amina! 💗
The minute you said that there was too much going on in the story, I went to check if this is a debut work. And it is! Kitchen sink syndrome strikes again.
At least you finished it! I hope your next book brings a more memorable end to the year. Thanks for your honest review, Rachel! ❤️
Sorry this was a bummer. That's a lot of subplots! Hope your next read in a winner. Great review, Rachel.

You’re welcome, Rosh! 💗 And you are correct, this is a debut novel. With that being said, I wanted to like it more but there were too many things going on (luckily, no politics). If this book had been cleaned up a bit more, or stuck to one story I think it would have had lots of potential.

Thank you so much, Srivalli! There were lots of subplots in this book, and I think it just went in too many directions. Hope your next read is a winner too! :)

Thank you so much, Kezia! I was a little overwhelmed with this story.

Susan wrote: "Great review! I like Rosh’s term “kitchen sink syndrome” for a debut novel! Sometimes less is more!"
Thank you, Susan! I agree that Rosh’s “kitchen sink” syndrome was the perfect description for a debut novel too! Less would have definitely been more for this book.

You’re welcome, Melissa! I hate for you to skip this as it might work better for you- but for me it just didn’t hit the mark unfortunately.
It's a shame you couldn't connect with Gwen. When you can't relate to the main character, it can be hard to get invested in the story, even if the premise is interesting. Fair review, Rachel.

Thank you very much, Taufiq! I was really expecting to love this book (and wanted to), but it just didn’t work out that way unfortunately. You are so right- when you cannot connect with the main character, it’s hard to stay invested in the story.
