I've been wanting to read this one ever since I watched the movie musical "Oliver!". I can't wait to hear what you think.
One of the hard things for classics for me is realizing that the genre was still developing and that readers had much less information at their fingertips. In all honesty, though I read and enjoyed A Tale of Two Cities several times, once was enough for Oliver Twist, though I'm glad I read it and did enjoy it, mostly.
Wrt the word count comment: Dickens was paid by the word! So obviously that’s why his writing is Like That. You can see how payment affects the writing style of other authors as well (for instance Dumas was paid by the line which is why he has so much snappy dialogue)

He actually wasn't paid by the word, it's a common myth
in all seriousness though, only you could make oliver (october) twist funny. this review made me actually lol and i can’t wait for more chapters to come!
Ahhh, I've been wanting to read Oliver Twist for the longest!!! Your review serves as good motivation!
Oliver Twist has been my most disliked books since I had to read it for school as a kid and I commend you for putting up with it
He wrote many of his novels first for serial magazines, one chapter an issue, as was common then and still is a practice. Whole different approach to reading, getting one chapter a month and waiting forward to the next. Almost like something now… tv serials, even . :)
i’ll never get over the embarrassment of getting cast as mr. grimwig as a sixteen year old girl in my high school production of oliver twist
Nice to know that the inequality of society has existed for exactly, ALWAYS
If you’re not outraged, you’re not paying attention
I'm pretty sure that I am enjoying reading this review of Oliver Twist way more than I ever would the book. Thank-you for reading this, so I don't have to!
omg this is a brilliant idea, would definitely do this in the future when reading long classics! you're amazing <3
The way this is one of my favourite books of all time and I still audibly giggle and this review and its roast of what I believe to be a wonderful book.
Will gently suggest that when reading a Victorian novel, you should anticipate that it will be a Victorian novel.
