I loved this book! Thank you for writing it.
Ah, sorry, Calvin—no, I just meant that this is the third book I've had published! Clumsy wording on my part!
Just started the book. Is this Schrödingers cat? Because he’s both at home for Thanksgiving and at the neighbors lol. Maybe this is part of the story….
Hi Catherine! Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy it. I won't say much about the cat because I don't want to spoil the ending, but it is definitely part of the story. :)
Catherine- I was just here to say the same about the cat!
And also the timeline threw me off because in the US we celebrate Thanksgiving at the end of November.
I was totally captivated by this book!! It was so full of emotion and the characters were so interesting. I just don’t get the cat thing!! Help!!
Barbara: thank you!!! As for the cat thing, feel free to email me. :) I don't want to leave spoilers on this thread but I'm more than happy to chat!
Your post really touched me. My dad was fond pointing out synchronicities and of hearing about them. I look forward to reading your book.
The Cat was an amazing little detail!! I am still thinking about this book long after I finished it. Phenomenal story telling!!
Anna: Aw, I love that. I think synchronicities are such a cool and special part of life, and I feel a real kinship with people who take extra care to notice them!
I loved every single page of this book. I don’t even have words yet to properly convey my love for it.
I’m going to go read it again because I didn’t want it to end.
Thanks for sharing! I absolutely loved this book and keep telling people they need to read it. This might be my favorite book of the year. Question - (spoiler alert for anyone reading this!) - did the dad really happen to write a book about the world coming to an end, basically predicting the future, or is that just the way the book was in his memory?
Thank you for doing this!! I’m bookmarking this post to read later, but I’m only on page 55 and I have SO many notes about the cat.
I just finished the book. Basically read it in a day — New Year’s Day, as a matter of fact — which has made the day feel a tad apocalyptic. Ha!
As soon as the cat was mentioned in two different locations, I was thinking this was going to be a multiverse / parallel universe story and when Nora & Jacob both had the experience of already knowing each other when they first met, I thought this too would be explained by some rift between parallel universes. Somehow, the actually explanation at the end is even more of a mind-bender. 😄
I loved all the little clues of synchronicity — green felt garland, paper snowflakes, supercharged Christmas decorating at home and across a city, murals, a Christmas gift for everyone…
Really enjoyed this read. Thanks for a beautifully written, thought-provoking, and wholly entertaining story, Suzy! My brain is going to be chewing on it for a while.
It is very, very rare to be able to thank an author for spending the time and effort to create and share a great story. So, thank you very much for enriching my life experience. Apocalypse fiction has always been at the top of my list, and this was a surprisingly refreshing perspective. And it leaves the perfect amount of content to ponder. Exactly who has been here before, everyone or just someone?
This was the best book I've ever read. It was heartbreaking but also so wonderful. It was happy and tragic. It ended beautifully but also in a very rip my heart to shreds and leave me crying on my bed way. But it also didn't actually end really.
Gah! I love this update. I have a lot of synchronicities reading this book and I love what you wrote about it. Thank you so much for for this book
I am SO glad I found this before I read the book. I don't mind some spoilers if they help me avoid confusion. I've got just a few pages left so I gotta go. Thanks for everything!
That cat made stop and think about half way through, way is the cat in 2 (or 3) places? Hilda's necklace was another clue for me.
I really liked this book quirky and thoughtful.
Such a wonderful story! The silver necklace was such a great detail. I loved that even more than the cat. Thank you so much for writing this gem, and for your review and comments.
Thank you for writing this!!! When I first noticed a difference in the story regarding the cat I did something I haven’t done in ages….. I grabbed my highlighter. I marked each reference of the cat being in Germany with Nora or in Saskatchewan with Hilda. And the silver necklace and Marlen thinking about a Jacob just as Nora met a Jacob. I may have to do something else I haven’t done in ages….. read this book a second time.
