I know of pink corners in the mind: Forest of sweet perfumes, whose travelers lend a hand to the breasts of sunset and its nervous mapping of amateur stars.

You stare at me, impatient to be away
as the five o’clock light dapples your
marbled nakedness. Your eyes are already
elsewhere, every nerve striving escape.Carolyn O'Connell

Corridors of My Mind by Angel M.B. Chadwickhttp://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NLOM0HI
http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/corri...
Excerpt:
Mirror, Mirror
No one visits me anymore
No one wants to hear my same original score
What am I here for?
If not, to poke and prod at every unsightly pore
I am the reflection of the past, present and future of what has gone wrong, what will go wrong, what has been improved and what needs to be improved
I’m the part of the psyche that never fades
And here I am collecting shade
I’m the reason why vanity and insecurity sustains
And here I am collecting shade
But, I will never fade
No, I will never fade
I’m transcendent lurking in the eyes of the judgmental
Of store windows, in broken hearts
I’m part of you, part of the truth
I am darkness
I am light
The place where you can’t hide your weakness or narcissistic tendencies
I am your soothsayer
I am your purveyor of reality
And here I am collecting shade
But, I will never fade
Lock me away, throw away the key
You’ll never get rid of me
I’m your worst nightmare
I’ve crawled inside
No, you cannot hide
Not even your staunch mental illness can keep you away from what I provide
Close the blinds
Bury your head under the covers
Lie there and blubber like an idiot
I’ll be there when you need me again
When you want to pretend
No matter what we’ll always be lifelong friends.

Happy New Year to everyone! Just before Christmas I was a Guest Reader at the last Rhythm & Muse at the Ram Jam in Kingston, Surrey England. My Book Timelines was well received and the poetry evening was accompanied by music and poetry from LiTTle Machine celebrating the poetry of Carole Anne Duffy our poet laureate and W.W.1 poetry. Great evening in prestigious company. Anyone interested in reading my poems I hope this will intrigue -TAKE-AWAY BED
It grabbed me from the street.
Among sleek furniture of steel
scattered throughout the store
it was a tactile as fingers, opulent,
cased in leather brown as old books.
A bed scattered with old pillows,
a matching duvet, promising to envelop
dreams with images of decadence
far from this polystyrene pavement,
the enclosing, windswept tower blocks.

Whispered Kisses: Classical Poetry for a Modern TimeMy first book of poems was published in late February of this year, and I'm very proud to share it with all of you. Here's a sample of my more recent work: Sonnet lxix: Catharsis
Face to face, lips barely an inch apart,
Eyes closing with a calm, contented sigh,
The only sound the beating of my heart,
There's no one else on earth: just you and I.
The hands caress each other's gentle curves,
And foreheads touch -- the lips are closer in,
There's no chance of us calming down our nerves,
And gentlest kiss I place upon your chin.
At last, our eager lips, tentatively,
Graze each other, the teasing such a bliss,
Closer, hungrier, so desperately,
Finally caught in perfect, endless kiss.
A kiss so perfect that it must be treasured;
The kiss by which all future ones are measured.
Thanks for reading, everyone. It's a pleasure to meet you all.

Hi Everyone,Excerpts from my poetry book:
I live today in your memoirs
Some courage, an unknown strength, your words breathe into me
And though you lie cold and dead
You manage to make me emulate
Your treaded path, your valued thoughts
Your life which you led carefree
Each step you took built me up
What I am today, what I reflect
And though there is pain around
I remember those words you said to me
Life can never be the same always
It rises and falls, it prods and stalls
Yet whatever it is - with all its hues
Life is beautiful indeed.

Timelines is the long-awaited first full collection from Carolyn O'Connell. Carolyn writes accessible poetry on a variety of themes and the collection will have broad appeal to all poetry lovers.
Her work is inspired by her Irish heritage, current events and membership of poetry organisations. She is a member of The Poetry Society and listed on Poetrypf.co.uk and her work has been translated into Romanian.
Beautiful tender poems, rich in many ways: in O'Connell’s unique linguistic turns, where ‘hymns’ can be ‘conducted / by spiraling arcs of Spitfires’; in detailed imagery and its expression, whether the serenity of a single flower petal or the incessant shifting in a cityscape; in its unflinching observation of the ties that bind. Change whistles through these flawlessly-musical lines, wherein ‘ emotions / are gathered with the fruit to savour / through the cold’... Timelines has a vital energy that I know will draw me back to it.Anne Stewart Editor poetrypf

Here is one poem from the collection: :)
Do, Follow Your Dream
Do, follow your dream
but you should know
Witches, monsters and demons
will always be very close
Barbed wires and sharpened rocks
will somehow on your path show
Those bandits hate on your cheek
even the one grain of glow
Following dreams is willingly
tripping, rolling and falling
It sounds silly, I know
Nevertheless, I repeat
Do, follow your dream
Hey guys, I published my first book of poetry, (second is in the works) Penman's Promise last August. It explores themes of love, loss, determination and nostalgia, painting scenes of each within its petty confines. They aren't meant to impress or impose, but rather inspire and ignite the fire within us all. I hope you enjoy it, thank you. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
"Adam Levon Brown's collection of poetry, Musings of a Madman, is honest and compelling. I was impressed by how open and fearless the poet was with sharing his feelings about things that are obviously important to him. Brown gives the reader bold enough to enter into Musings of a Madman a lot to think about and feel, and it's well worth the challenge to do just that. By the end of the collection, I felt enriched and moved by the experience and am eager to read more of this talented poet's work. Musings of a Madman is highly recommended." - Jack Magnus, Readers' Favorite

Hi guys, i published my book of poetry last year. It is a collection of contemporary poetry that were written at a hard time for me. https://www.createspace.com/4968579
Excerpt:
I am choking,
on the smell,
of burned childhood
Breathing in deep,
the absence of innocence.
The drones have left,
in their wake
Broken homes
and shattered dreams
Hearts beautified
With bullet holes.
I am not afraid,
We exchange vows
And bury our dead
we kiss our lovers
With thirst and passion
For when the drones strike.
Peace has temporarily left the building
Hope has hugged us
and sang us lullabies
Hope has warmed those
Cold winter nights
Peace has temporarily left the building
-Obamas drones

QUEST
Come with me
and climb a rainbow
one colour at a time
until we reach the clouds.
We can drift away
with the billowing grey
on a quest to catch
a wandering star.
And on that star
we can make a wish
that our moment
will last forever.

My new book, Still the Dawn: Poems and Ballads, is a collection of poems and ballads I wrote between the years of 1983 and 2015. Here is the title poem of my book: Still the Dawn
Still the dawn,
still the dew,
still the moments
dwindling down to few.
Still the shade,
still the light,
still the heron
flapping wings for flight.
Fill the air,
fill the sea,
fill the forests
falling rain to be.
In the background,
it will go on.
There is comfort
in what will come has gone.
Still the orb,
still the glass,
still the lion
leaping through the grass.
Still the dream,
still the heart,
still the lover
praying not to part.
Still the Dawn: Poems and Ballads
Hello everyone, I've been looking quite some time for poetry lovers. I hope this is the spot. It's nice to meet all of you. I've recently published an epic poem/novel in verse. I was hoping you could check it out. It's titled Yaser and Yasmeen. Here is an excerpt from the beginning of chapter 1:I am Yaser, born of a world engulfed in darkness
And although many of us tried to remove it of sadness
It seemed that it went in vain, and so in misery I drowned
And people often asked me, why did I always carry a frown?
For in a world of lies, when one began to think
His whole being into darkness would sink
And so I carried on, through a voided life
And people still asked me, why did I go through much strife?
There was no healing of this world that had lost its hope
And although I’ve clung unto the comfort of various ropes
It seemed that nothing could inspire this world to construction
It seemed that there was never such a thing as redemption
I dragged my feet along the street, in a place so damp
I looked high upon a street light, that oh so lonely lamp
And although such a light, like the sun’s, is something I did need
I looked back at the world, and realized it was immersed in greed
And so my friends told me, to cheer up a while
My friend, Omar, tried to enlighten me with his smile
Yet when one connected the dots of this world, it seemed that light was nonexistent
And it seemed that the connecting power of love was severed, in a manner so resistant

The blurbs say:
Potkar speaks with the cutting clarity of a woman wholly engaged with the world. She writes from the gilded moment vulnerability becomes knowledge, and then when knowledge becomes wisdom. The result, in all cases, is the poem: clever and crafted to a kind of broken perfection—the cracks show, but the shattered places are dusted with powdered gold. “If a day is a life, a word is a story,” Potkar writes. Her poetry condenses life into a gilded day, a story into a single word, as only a masterful poet can do it, or a woman can feel it.
Mookie Katigbak-Lacuesta
Four degrees of separation is a book to be opened like pulling down the covers of a lovers’ bed, pages of poems like sheets to be inhaled, scents that will invade dreams. Jaguars stalk through these poems; mangoes, the sweet, salty vinegar of bodies in love, bodies falling out of love–and the city of Bombay too is omnipresent, ripe with cats and blossoms, heaps of saris, “anklets clinking to camel bells.” This book is a conversation, an invitation to heed the advice of a wise grandmother, who says, “Don’t love a man more than he knows what to do with it/like chocolate over a child’s face/or a small body in a large shirt….love him a little less/So he comes, wagging his desires.” This book is also a cry of lament to a grandmother who “cherished sons over daughters.” The tangles of lovers, of love lost, and of family relationships, all fuel these poems. We are all connected, for better and for worse, these poems insist, as an aunt “searched for zeros in every person/like ingredients in a soup.” “A grudge is a wound that never seeks healing,” writes Potkar in one of the many wise observations guiding this collection, where even amidst the chaos of life and love, “every tree holds the silence of the earth/under its armpits.”

Samples from the book, Like A Box Of Chocolates:
Razorblades and Revolutions
Battling against time as it sits at a stand still
The overwhelming rush of thoughts uncharted
Sharpe is the blade, keen and made to kill
It takes precision to make one feel outsmarted
The structure is in the tips as it brushes against skin
Until it infiltrates like a soldier behind enemy lines
Tempting is the feeling to go forth with sin
Taking out and piercing into whatever it finds
Order must be restored and this is one of the choices
Dangling freedom in front of the beheld eyes
Listen to the brain-waves not the inner voices
The image is an illusion, it’s the blades disguise
The longer contemplated the more the idea worsens
So that it becomes more than a means of escape
Like the hope of heaven awaiting with 1,000 virgins
If the Razorblade’s are love then Revolution is rape
Upon the Strike of Midnight
Tick,
A man sits still in his chair
Tock,
A bird sits perched on a branch
Tick,
The man hears nothing and is unaware
Tock,
The bird glares, seemingly in a trance
Tick,
Suddenly the man hears all the sounds
Tock,
Loudly, the bird caws every thirty seconds
Tick,
The volume fills the room in surround
Tock,
The bird cawing like a broken record
Tick,
The man now suddenly hears a rapping
Tock,
The bird flies to the window sill
Tick,
He now hears a quiet gentle tapping
Tock,
Again the bird sits perched and still
Tick,
Maddened, the man screams in a fright
Tock,
The bird seems amused by his proclamation
Silence......
The bird flies away satisfied causing devastation
Nevermore.....
Clock stops upon the strike of midnight
A message from A. F. B. Griffey,A selection of upbeat, fun poems to read to 4 – 7’s. Using rhythm and rhyme, the book embraces modern life, with mobile phones and computers. It also offers a scattering of dinosaurs, giraffes and robots - oh and an angry viper - just to spice things up.
These are poems that can be read to your children at home, whilst snuggled upon the settee or utilized as a circle time resource within nursery/pre-school, plus included within the primary school classroom as part of an organised poetry session – to encourage and build upon the child’s enthusiasm for rhythm and rhyme. With lively illustrations it will engage and inspire.

"
When Love Became Saviour
When she was a little girl long ago
Innocent, filled with ignorance about the world
She had slowly learnt to live with pain
Or her memories would never let her grow up
Those hurting memories of broken trust
When immaculate love was but, betrayed
That dirty touch of a trusted kin
Those vile looks of an older acquaintance
She kept it a secret as advised
It throttled her, but she gulped it down
She learnt to live with her fears and shame
And a certain guilt which knew no name
Until she was soothed to a great extent
By love of a different kind
Love - fragrant and innocent, just like hers
Filled her body and mind
Dressed her wounds, comforted her soul
Boosted her mettle and brought back her smile
Gave her the courage to stand up and say -
This is my body, my soul - none dare defile"

MY BEING'S SILHOUETTEMy being's silhouette found you to talk.
You say the Eastern nights float in my eyes' glow.
I say the Western sky of your blue eyes hugs a rainbow.
The way to your place is too long to walk.
My eyes build a bridge from South to North.
My being's silhouette is a seed of corn.
In life's philosophy I am a phantom.
The bricks of the bridge are my eyes' coal.
The bridge is a road for my heart and soul.
My being's silhouette is a seed of corn.
It is so tiny for the horizon.
