Hi Tom, thanks for the review! The reason why it was acceptable to have average/mediocre high schools grades was solely because of my several semesters at a community college. Universities aren’t interested in high school transcripts when you’re a college transfer. As for the skin color, some of my friends also used the same financial guarantees, including another community college transfer from New Jersey who happened to be white.
These financial aid guarantees are entirely based on admission, so they’re not as arbitrary as private scholarships. A school would have to not let in white students for the scholarships to not be available to white students.
