Pam Carey Awesome! I saw the drive-in set near my home when they were filming! I’ve been waiting for this to come out!

message 9: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Bing Very excited, but the book was scary just to read; I don't know how I'll bear watching it unfold on screen! Might be stuck with nightmares for a few weeks!

message 10: by Betty (new)

Betty Is this a second movie? Seems like there was another one long time ago.

D.R. Martin Heck, I loved the 1979 version too. It included James Freaking Mason, for goodness sake. However, I felt the hair raise on my neck reading Jerusalem's Lot from Night Shift. Talk about creepy. Perfect movie for the Fall :)

Scriptmonkey I'm looking forward to this one. The Gordon Lightfoot "Sundown" song was a great choice for the trailer--even if the song was about something completely different.

Now, I know the visual image of Barlow from the Tobe Hooper's 1979 version is rather iconic and creepy and the kid floating in the window was terrifying for the time. However, please, please remember:

This was a very boring movie. David Soul looked angry simply being there. Or, maybe he was angry because the damn door on his Jeep wouldn't close--look that up on YouTube (you'll also see how many scenes are people leaving in and arriving in vehicles). Beyond that, stripping Barlow of his voice was tantamount to covering up Deadpool's mouth in Wolverine Origins. James Mason is talented and shines while on screen (like Tim Curry in 1990's Stephen King's IT) and like IT (when Pennywise is not on the screen) it is a dreadful bore. The less said about Richard Thomas's makeup dripping off his face at the cemetery the better. Oh, and then there's the Salem's Lot version with Rob Lowe that--ah, I'm being told no one has seen that. Closer to the original story, but like the revamp of the Shining with the wonderful Steven Weber, it showed why being faithful does not correlate to being good.

So, here's hoping this latest (the third attempt) at Salem's Lot finally nails it.

ChristianK Seeing the trailer reminded me, that I wanted to re-read the book. For the first time after it terrified the heck out of me as a teenager 30 years ago. I'm 3/4 done and yes - it is still very effective!

message 15: by Martha (new)

Martha How exciting! The trailer is fantastic...and really scary. I'm about 3/4 done with the book as I write this and it is now on my favourites list. I cannot believe I waited this long to read this one. It is amazing!

There have been two adaptations. Unlike others, I own and have enjoyed both of them. Bring on the third!!!

message 20: by SandiBandi (new)

SandiBandi And - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my dearest writer!

message 21: by Donna (new)

Donna Can't wait! If it follows the book it will be great. Wish I could find all the originals that ran on television. Those were true to the books. Happy birthday Stephen!

kashridz Happy birthday King. The only horror writer whose books I'm terribly afraid of yet cannot put down. Whenever I feel sleepy while preparing for my exams, I pick up your books, and cease to blink thereafter.

message 23: by Jon (new)

Jon Writer This looks like an awesome trailer! I can't wait to watch the movie. I have been a long time supporter of Stephen King!

I'm a new author and with inspiration from King. I don't want to shamelessly plug my own book, but if you like Stephen King, you may enjoy my first novel as well. I'm hear to make connections and make friends so send me a request and I will follow. Let's connect!

message 24: by Nanette (new)

Nanette Looking forward to watching the newest version of this one!

message 29: by Merricat (new)

Merricat Candice wrote: "I couldn't make it through the trailer, got too scared lol. I can read SK's books but the scary movies? No!"

Same!! lol. Sad. 😂

message 30: by Merricat (new)

Merricat Only just realized this is MAX. 😞 I guess I will be getting it back for a bit. 😬

message 31: by FY (new)

FY Reviews were pretty bad. It felt too rush. Why oh why do they have to do a feature film?

message 32: by Olivia (new)

Olivia Pendleton watched it, was not impressed

message 33: by Joanna (new)

Joanna Not a big fan of the movie, it lacked a lot of content that I would’ve expected to be included. I understand that you can't translate the entire book into the film but I feel like some of the scenes could be skipped and replaced with more meaningful content

message 34: by Angela (new)

Angela Del Yo me lo estoy empezando y la verdad que de momento pinta genial 😌
