Hanneke Thanks for the warning, Jon!

Jon Zelazny Thanks, Hanneke. I'm clearly in the minority here, as most people seem to find it charming. Which it is, but the story really lacks drive.

Hanneke Jon, I honestly appreciate your review! I am sure your feeling about this novel is correct. I am checking which Ann Patchett novels I would like to read next since I so loved ‘Bel Canto’ like you did. Have a nice Sunday, Jon!

Lyn Elliott I enjoyed this least of all her novels I’ve read.

Hanneke Hi Lynn, I am just being curious: which novels of Ann Patchett did you enjoy very much?

message 6: by N (new)

N I’m seeing Our Town on Broadway soon and I’ve read this was influenced by Our Town

Jon Zelazny It is indeed a major touchstone. Which initially lured me in, having played Stage Manager myself back in high school.

message 8: by Barbara (new)

Barbara I couldn’t get into this either. BEL CANTO is a favorite.

message 9: by Carol (new)

Carol I started it once - DNF but went back and read it. Not my favorite Pathchett - loved Bel Canto, Commonwealth, Dutch House.

message 10: by Jon (new)

Jon Zelazny Thanks, Carol! If I venture back into Patchett-land, I will try one of those later two.
