A Mac I really like your first paragraph - it's a shame that despite it possibly going either way that it ended up not working for you. I have a feeling you're right about the long writing period maybe contributing to its rambling. Helpful review, Rosh!

Liz Fabulous review! I’m right there with you on book that do/don’t work.

Thanks, A! I had kept my fingers crossed that the balance would tilt towards the right side, but it was not to be.

Thanks, Liz! These things are so dicey! But the Booker tag should have warned me beforehand.

Pam Baddeley That wouldn't have been for me either - would have been bored witless. I must have a plot!!

Suz The cover matches your opening, too, Rosh. Onwards and upwards :)

Rowan MacDonald Excellent review, Rosh! 😊 How unfortunate. Well done for finishing. As much as I enjoy beautiful prose, I always need a solid plot!

Jenny Kline Excellent review. Sounds way too depressing for me.

Same! It can even be a paper-thin plot, but give me something that moves ahead without involving crying in every scene!

Oh, that's such a good point! wish I had thought of it before, Suz! :D

Thanks so much, Rowan! Same opinion - prose is fine; plot is mandatory. :D

Thanks, Jenny! Haha, it was too depressing for me as well. :D
