Sorry this one didn't work out as well for you as it could have. Too many concepts seem muddled and I'm with you I don't care for pretentious words just for the sake of seeming clever. With so many really good fantasy books it's a let down to be stuck with a so/so rendition. Loved your review!

Thank you Esta love! I hate when my reviews discourage someone to read, but I do think there are better books than this one out there, particularly for your tastes.
However, do take my opinion with a grain of salt. I appear to be saturated from the genre as some source materials keep being recycled, but my reading buddy had a better experience than I 😅

Thank you Nora! I still had a great time with this book, it's entertaining and I ate everything up! I just think several things could have been executed better, and I don't see it as one of my romantasy favorite reads. My next read is 4 starts probably, but that is already great 😊

Great review! I didn’t love this either and particularly wasn’t a fan or Raeve’s character or the smut. I don’t understand the rave reviews on this book at all.

Thank you JadeMoon! I've been a bit picky on romantasies lately so do take my review with a grain of salt. I think the story has potential, which is probably one more reason why I feel disappointed 😅

Thank you Julie! I'm glad I'm not alone on this... I feel this ticks a lot of favorite tropes "boxes" on romantasies, which helps its success.. I'm still excited for the sequel, but I'm most probably going to sell my FOMO waterstones edition 😂

I agree Sarah! My limit for most authors is 500 pages, but I'm open to exceptions for some high fantasy writers (Sanderson, Hobb etc) 😅

I’m halfway into it and I can assure you I cannot reproduce the plot of this book. I don’t know what the plot is, the romance gives me the Ick, i don’t understand anything

I understand what you mean. I think she took too much time to develop the story. It feels very unfocused.. Now looking half an year after my read, I recollect many things (I think the most important ones) but I couldn't retell the story in a coherent way. This should have been done in half the pages 🙈
