Kingfisher is a bird and there is a reference in the book to her getting a bird tattoo so I think there is more meaning behind it
Kingfisher is really King Fisher. Must be. The only way his name makes sense. Book is from one pov, she must hear the two words as one and doesn't realize this yet. That's got to be it.
