Lynda, just want you to know I have revised the story in an attempt to make implant results and recovery more realistic. It now emphasizes the difficulty of differentiating noises, clarifies the 2.5 year recovery period and itroduces use of Sign-Talk as a training device to aid in recognizing words, and explains why she can never really appreciate music. I hope this treatment balances benefits and difficulties in a way that encourages valid candidates to proceed withoout misleading them regarding results and recovery difficulty.
