Jennifer Honestly, I liked the journal entries best because at least they sounded like they were actually written in 1789 -- the rest of it was obviously 2024 dressed in costume and therefore totally implausible to me.

message 2: by Karen Vo (new)

Karen Vo Completely agree.

message 3: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Totally agree…

message 4: by Roberta (new)

Roberta Couldn’t disagree more. I loved this book but I listened to it on audio and perhaps that elevated it because the narrator did a fantastic job. Either way, I loved the storyline, setting, and tension. Scratched all the right itches for me.

message 5: by Jaksen (new)

Jaksen Youarenotalone. Total agreement.

message 6: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Omg I so agree! I can’t believe I actually finished it. It was so boring and so many people recommended it. Bonkers

message 7: by Barbara (new)

Barbara Nutting I loved every word ❤️👍

message 8: by Anne (new)

Anne I loved this novel!

message 9: by Kati (new)

Kati Berman I am a quarter into this book and I think, I won’t finish it. Can’t get into it, find it boring also.

message 10: by Shrina (new)

Shrina This book was so painful

message 11: by Hazel (new)

Hazel Bruce I am 20% through and was wondering why I wasn't loving this book-figured I would look at reviews to help justify quitting -but everyone loves it- your review seems the most real-but maybe I will give it a little more time.

message 12: by Liz (new)

Liz It was honestly so bad and ridiculous.

message 13: by Amber (new)

Amber Sanders Totally agree. So unsatisfying and her condescending tone. I feel shorted.

message 14: by Rose Marie (new)

Rose Marie I've stopped and started this book twice, it drags on and on - I simply can't be bothered trying to get it over the finish line.

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Glugosh I totally agree with you!

message 16: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Deacon Agree - couldn’t get past page 20. Where are the decent writers of our era?

message 17: by Soraya (new)

Soraya Pierre-Louis It wasn't a murder mystery! It was barely a subplot.
