You are capable of adding an alternate cover edition yourself.

Does your e-book edition have an ISBN, or is Kindle the only electronic format?

It has three ISBNs

ISBN 978-0-9982224-2-4 (paperback)
ISBN 978-0-9982224-0-0 (eBook)
ISBN 978-0-9982224-1-7 (kindle)

The e-book ISBN is taken by the Kindle, so you will need to ask support to move it to the e-book record.

It’s not an alternate cover though. It’s a new cover. In the past, when I have re-covered a book, I’ve only needed to ask a goodreads librarian to update it. Is that not how it works anymore?

Then what you are asking for is an alternate cover edition, which you can add via the button at the top of the existing book page.
