Meg It was a great review; I'm so sorry to hear it was deleted 😭

message 2: by Fez (new)

Fez This is a crime!! I'm glad to have read it before. Is this something that is becoming more common? Because I've noticed it happening to quite a few of my own reviews too

message 3: by Keran (new)

Keran at least it's on the wayback machine, goodreads wont let me paste the link but type tinyurl dot com slash goodreadswhy

message 4: by Ten Cats (new)

Ten Cats Reading Oh Goodreads!!😱😭

message 5: by Audrey (new)

Audrey Philistines!
This is why I now save my reviews elsewhere as a backup.

emma i think i have this particular review saved somewhere but it's upsetting to think there might be more that have been inexplicably deleted and i just haven't noticed

a v a Why was it deleted?

message 10: by arielle (new)

arielle i read 100 books last year (which was my goal), only for goodreads to delete one of them and say i read 99. 😭

message 11: by arielle (new)

arielle also, gatsby >>>>>

message 12: by Emily (new)

Emily I spot a need for a cliff notes version of the OG review. You know, for those of us that missed it

message 13: by Srishti (new)

Srishti B. I remember using this particular review as an argument in class a few years ago for why Daisy was not as as bad as people thought — annoying that it got deleted. Was it saved elsewhere?

message 19: by George (new)

George Shetuni I don't know what's better, the Great Gatsby or your review of the Great Gatsby. :)

message 20: by Moses (new)

Moses Yuriyvich Mikheyev I hate to be that guy but . . . I’m here for the review. If you must rewrite it, I am here for that too. Just sayin’.

message 26: by Ruby (new)

Ruby Warhol That's so sad, they didn't even send you a copy of it before deleting it? I've started saving all my reviews in Word documents in case that ever happens. There's a lot of swearing in my reviews so it just might lol

message 27: by Briana (new)

Briana I can't find mine either. It's weird.

message 28: by Lana (new)

Lana McKnight I don’t know why this book was so good but it was. I immediately found the movies and watch them, then went to see the broadway show. Can’t get enough.

message 29: by Catherine (new)

Catherine C. Everyone has a different aesthetic palate. Some like Hemmingway, I love Fitzgerald. A few years back, I read a writing craft book. The author hates adjectives and adverbs with passion. One of the exercise he listed in the book is to improve The Great Gatsby by deleting all the "unnecessary" adjectives and adverbs. You can imagine the result...I laughed and cried simultaneously at his "cleaned up" version.

message 30: by Aashna (new)

Aashna Why did the review get taken down by GR?

message 31: by Lynda (new)

Lynda That's sad your review was deleted! The link you shared, is this a blog you have? I plan to start saving my reviews to Word documents. I am sorry this happened to you! Above all, Goodreads people!

message 32: by Hanile (new)

Hanile James Just like my own family book so very nice to get it
