I own a copy of this but in no hurry to read. Thank you for the helpful review !
It has received some very positive reviews, but was not for me. I love long books if I don’t want a book to end (A Little Life); however, I was relieved when this one concluded. 3 stars for flashes of brilliant writing
One of my top reads of last year. Long book but it just went by seamlessly for me. However, your thoughtful review is understandable, Pat. I can imagine that some may be conflicted by this book. I would love to see it as a series!
That is a great idea - the gradual disintegration of the family both individually and collectively (and the revelation of the many secrets) would make for a riveting series.
I actually liked this book a lot but don’t disagree with your review at all, especially the part about a grown man being called Dickie. I liked it because I thought whether or not I liked the story, I absolutely liked the prose. The ending was hard for me, but since it was left so totally unresolved I’ve since imagined my own ending that ties it all up in a nice little bow!
