bella ♡ ♡ (semi-hiatus) i say 16 because honestly you already know everything that happens at that age so why not? i mean it’s not like you’re clueless

avi ౨ৎ For me being younger than 17. I couldn't even read the first few chapters. It had too much smut, too much violence, and just too much stuff. I think it should be a +17 book.

message 3: by andie (new)

andie honestly no one at any age should read haunting adeline, but you really can't justify putting an age limit greater than 18, when people could be legally creating porn.

message 4: by avi ౨ৎ (new)

avi ౨ৎ It also needs to be the maturity of that person they need big maturity levels.

message 5: by Leni ♥ (new)

Leni ♥ I personally put 17 because even though some 14/15/16 year olds know about smut and stuff, I don’t know if it’s appropriate for them to read it, especially because some people glorify SA or assault because of it. It’s okay in fiction as long as the author and the reader take the responsibility to acknowledge that this type of stuff isn’t okay in real life. Also, some 17-year-olds are in college or are kind of mature so I put it as the minimum age. Though, I wouldn’t really recommend it.

message 6: by avi ౨ৎ (new)

avi ౨ৎ I didn't like it personally it was a dnf couldn't read anymore. I like when or not like yk but I like it when the authors put awareness in books. especially in other books that are more +15 romance or any books. Cause it is great to have a life lesson in them and it opened especially my eyes to serious topics.

Anastasia シ I'd say 17-18 but also ... I was reading slightly smutty books like Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, which is an adult paranormal romance (werewolves, vampires, witches, etc) with slightly detailed suggestive themes when I was in middle school (grade 7/8) around 12-14 ig?

But books like Haunting Adeling or any dark romance or even erotica should be 18+ or even 20+

message 8: by Bianca ღ (new)

Bianca ღ I would say 20+
That series is definitely not appropriate for children - none of the dark romance's are but then again, i was 10 reading smutty books

message 9: by RoroReads (new)

RoroReads I think that anyone over 13 who could bear it can read it. not saying that they should but like if you can handle it, then go for it

message 10: by avi ౨ৎ (new)

avi ౨ৎ Well some probably shouldn’t when being young

message 11: by Athanasia ♥︎ (last edited May 06, 2024 04:35PM) (new)

Athanasia ♥︎ honestly i put 18 not because of the "spice"... but because Haunting Adeline is filled with rape scenes and if they were younger i feel they would confuse it for love.

message 12: by avi ౨ৎ (new)

avi ౨ৎ Yes definitely I agree fully on that statement if expose to, too many assaults and relationship problems at a young age can either paranoid or maybe bring fear to that person’s eyes And can mess up their interpretation in love

bella ♡ ♡ (semi-hiatus) y’all are really convincing, i’m changing my answer to 18 only bc of the rape and romanticized SA which could be seen as a “healthy relationship”. younger people may not be able to distinguish how bad that is and look at that as a want for their love life

message 14: by avi ౨ৎ (new)

avi ౨ৎ Also there at the warning and trigger page it says protect your mental health so yk it going to be a lot

message 15: by Leni ♥ (new)

Leni ♥ Yeah, to be fair I was a Wattpad kid so I accidentally got exposed to smut at 13 or so. However, I do not encourage any 13-year-olds to read smut. Even if they might understand sex or be exposed to the concept of it, a lot of the times, you're pretty (no offense) guillable when you're younger so you might take things like "toxic relationships" or "stalking" as "romantic" if you aren't careful. Yes, some 13/14/15 year-olds have read Icebreaker and turned out fine because they genuinely are mature and understanding of it, but it's not something I reccommend to most people lol. In my opinion, I feel like at this age you should be reading books like The Hunger Games, The Selection, or The Cruel Prince.

message 16: by avi ౨ৎ (new)

avi ౨ৎ Yeah. I Read books that sometimes have subjects like “stalking” “raping” and other things I never think it is romantic but I also see that it is definitely not okay. Like I believe you first off need to know where you stand in your maturity and also know what actual good relationship looks like. Ykyk

Kelsey (Bucky's version) In my opinion, over 21. Fully grown adults that are able to legally imbibe in my opinion have better judgement on what they should read than minors and even newly adults such as 18-19. The kind of topics in that book / series are not entirely appropriate for anyone imo (because I don't like smut at all and it is against my religious beliefs) but certainly not anyone under the age of 18. That does not mean I care at all if anyone else reads it. If you're an adult, then read whatever you want, but I don't support allowing minors to read that even if they already know about it

message 18: by mak ⊹₊⋆ (new)

mak ⊹₊⋆ if ur mature who cares. but before you read it ask yourself “do i want to read a book about a girl who falls in love with a abuser/stalker?” cuz i know a 14yo girl who now dreams about falling in love with a stalker cuz she read this haunting adeline and twisted games

message 19: by avi ౨ৎ (new)

avi ౨ৎ Yeah okay when authors make the mmc in romance books stalkers or idk stupid stuff I hate it. Like stop are you trying to make naive little kids fall in love with that and them calling it romantic.

message 20: by Leni ♥ (new)

Leni ♥ I agree with you guys. Honestly, controversial opinion, but I do think authors should be able to write what they want. HOWEVER, that does not mean that the fiction should be published. Nor should that if it is, it should be marketed to young teens. There should be content warnings on the first page and a clear indication that the book contains MATURE and potentially triggering themes. Responsibility must also be taken. Not the biggest fan of certain books/tropes but I have friends who really enjoy it (late teens/early twenties) who are old enough to differentiate between reality and fiction. So if they want to read Haunting Adeline, then so be it. But if I see 14-year-old picking it up, I will say "no no no."

message 21: by keerit 🌠 (new)

keerit 🌠 i think 18, specifically for dark romance books like haunting adeline, but that’s extremely hypocritical considering i read it at 15 😭 i think it also heavily depends on maturity of the reader and what they’ve read before/what they’re in to

~☆~Autumn Haunting Adeline - got to read reviews

message 23: by ~☆~Autumn (new)

~☆~Autumn After reading reviews I would say that no one should read this trash ever! sounds like pure garbage.

message 24: by Robin (new)

Robin 16, or 17. I read Haunting Adeline at 17, and would not recommend any spicy books to someone under 16. I said 16 cuz its the age of consent in Ontario, though for Haunting Adeline specifically even 16 or 17 id borderline imo. But thats the general “spicy book minimum” in my eyes.

Every dark romance book Ive seen contains a trugger warning lust on the first page. On top of this, theyre listed as adult, or mature adult. Beyond that, there is nothing an author can do to ensure children, young teens or people who cannot handle the content dont read it. They do what they can

message 26: by 5Star_Stay143 (new)

5Star_Stay143 HOLD ON, I WILL NEVER LET A 12-YEAR-OLD READ DARK ROMANCE PERIOD. It's too graphic and dark for them to understand

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished reading the first book, I am 17 in one month, i got this recommended from a friend who is my age as well, I enjoyed reading the book but the plot was average, the smut was intense and only mature people 16+ can read it. I definitely am not allowed to but I bought them for my friend as i just read it online. its kinda banned in australia
