Great review, Rachel! I was very ambivalent about this read. However I did actually like the Apple+ TV version better.

Oh my! There was a time when I saw only 5 star ratings for this book, and once the initial hype settled, the negative reviews started flooding. The feedback is so mixed! I could still live with ling and drawn out, but unrealistic? No way! And a dog named six Thirty?!?? I don't know whether to laugh or feel sorry for the poor fellow! I am not sure about this book anymore. Thanks for the clear and helpful review, Rachel! 💙 Sorry this didn't match the hype!

Thank you, Rosh! 💗 Please read all the mixed reviews- this book is definitely not what it’s hyped up to be. And the dog named Six-Thirty, it was definitely a joke!! If you do read this book, I hope you like it better than I did.

Just wanted to reiterate how much I appreciate your accurate perspective since 99.9% of those who've read it feel otherwise. I attempted to watch the Apple series but shut it off after the first episode, LOL

Yes, I have read some books which ruined my mood....I have read other reviews for this book as well so I hadn't the slightest inclination to consider...... the atheist and feminist aspects for starters; ugh, not a chance. A Reverend not even believing in God :( She sounds obnoxious actually with letting everyone know her ambitious plans etc. Calvin must have been rather patient! ha...... Life is way too short to spend time on such a depressing and irritating books like this.



Rachel my darling; do come "for tea" some day to my favourites to check out some uplifting and feel good stories ! ha....xox

Jonathan, Lol! 😂 I’m so glad you agree with my accurate perspective, considering how many people love this book. If you turned this series off after the first episode, then I know it was bad!! So unrealistic!

Cindy, please do not read this book. This was/is not for us! I would love to come “for tea” one day and check out some of your favorites. I definitely need something uplifting and feel good after this. ❤️

Don't worry...I wouldn't take this book if it was being given away sure...definitely not my preference ;) You need a story that encourages you...

I loved this one but can understand your view. I know that book clubs can push us to expand our boundries but I'm sorry that it had to be for a book you didn't like.🌷🌷🌷

Izzie, thank you!! I just found it too hard to believe that a woman was acting like Elizabeth and getting away with her actions in the 1950’s. It just didn’t make sense. Now, I’m sure woman probably thought those thoughts, but the world just didn’t work like that back then… Also the names were too much for me 🤦🏻‍♀️

Rachel I read this one as a book club selection too. I share your opinion and frustration with this book. Not only unrealistic for the time period - I also found the endless women's lib cliché's to be contrived and annoying.

this was SUCH an infuriating book with SO many triggers and frustrating character dynamics and I feel so alone for disliking it--love this review
