The last argument is crushing. No one, but No One could make a counterargument. Otherwise, that one could be struck by lightning in broad daylight, by gods.
Reasons not to get the ARC ...
1) you had/have B&B/fairytale retellings burnout,
2) you also had/have ARC burnout,
3) love interested is called "Beau" (!! Seriously!!?? Blah)
4) story sounds the same as a vast number of YA stories you have already read;
5) read some of the 4 star reviews, and didn't get warm, fuzzy feelings.
Your call, but just thought I would remind you of (1) and (2).
I really liked Stepsister, but wasn't that enthused with Poisoned and I don't remember why. I also requested this arc, but it won't break my heart if I don't get it since I still have about 20 arcs still to read that aren't overdue. We won't talk about the deadlines I missed.

I know. 🤣

But, El . . . 🥺 I promised to give up on sugar, carbs, alcohol, and retellings! 🥺 I promised nothin' aboot Beauty an' Beastie. 🥺

With a great bloodline comes great humility? 😄
publishers are you listening?? Marquise needs this arc (and I need to read her review wherever it lands on the star spectrum) 😉
Tina wrote: "I hope you get it! She's such a great author!! 👏"
Yeah, I like the way she has handled the retellings I've read by her, not sure what her other books are like. Thank you, Tina!

I gave both the same rating, but I'd give the edge to Stepsister. I've also read her Disney B&B story and liked it, rare for me as I'm very (or used to be) anti-Disney for this tale. ☺️

From your mouth to the god in charge's ear, Sri! 😄
Seriously, though, I saw it has hundreds of 'likes', which is always a sign the publishers have been flooded with requests, so . . . my chances are low. Oh, well.

Heh! Let's hope they're keeping an eye on the GR page. I see that they've already given some ARCs to other reviewers.

I haven't read any of the Disney books other than Maggie Stiefvater's Bravely, which I unexpectedly loved. I ended up finishing it and then starting it over again.

I haven't watched the film, the summary at the time didn't make it appealing to me, so I haven't picked the book up either.

I'm as convincing as can be. 🤣 I hope so too, and before I start thinking of ways to steal Elevetha's Kindle. 🤣

I'll review, for sure. I'd review it even if it weren't an ARC. ;)

Oh excellent. I'm intrigued by what you listed so far.
Interesting. I think I'll have to read it, although some of your complaints would prob be complaints for me as well. But all in all, it looks promising. :)
what a wonderfully written review! I love your writing style. I’m glad you enjoyed this despite the inconsistencies. I hate when the authors are lazy with their research and it shows 😭 but overall your review is making me even more excited to read this! 💐💞
Hmmm, this one sounds tempting! (I've only ever read two B&B retellings, one of them was good, and the other not very ;) ) Wonderful review, Marquise!
Sounds very intriguing. I liked her book Poisoned, which was a Snow White retelling. She also did another story based on the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast, kind of a story-within-a-story that was interesting. Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book.
Oh I'm so glad to see that this one was pretty good overall! I'm so happy for you to have this win - it sounds like there was a lot of good in this one. Excellent review, Marquise!

Do try it, Bells! 😉
Mariella wrote: "ohhhh I might have to look into this one. It sounds pretty solid."
Have you read anything by Donnelly before? She can be kind of an acquired taste.

Thank you, Lydia! I agree, that's a frequent complaint from me too. Sometimes, though, the pluses outweigh the minuses, like in this case. 😊

Thank you, Sasha! Oooh, which were those?

Yeah, I've read all her retellings already. Thank you, Meredith!

I will. At some point lol.
Michelle wrote: "Beauty from Barcelona is a great sales pitch :)"
Haha, indeed. 😊 They rarely do retellings with characters that aren't French or English (or fictional nationality). First time I find a Spaniard in a B&B retelling, though this one lives in France.
