Srivalli (Semi-Hiatus) Love the quote you added at the end, Karen! Glad you enjoyed this book. It has such diverse ratings that I'm still not sure if I should give it a try! Superb review. xx

Rosh (is back & catching up slowly!) I am really happy this turned out to be a 5 star for you, Karen! 💙 I was very impressed by her earlier novel, 'Babel', so this is on my reading list as well. :) The theme itself is wonderful. I love the questions you raised in the first pars. No easy answers there!

Gaurav Sagar What a moving review you've crafted, Karen. I am coming acorss the author for the first time but by the time I finished reading your write-up, I knew I would be buying it. The question of authetncity wrapped in layers of racist, ethinicity, and lies seems to hit upon our baisc human nature- as to how do we work in life, how we use things to our advantages by forming up a mendacious and hypocritical narrative to soothe our soul, however, gradually but certainly our soul does get affected by it. Thanks for sharing it, ordering the book :)

Karen Thank you so very much, Sri!
Yes, I do understand your reluctance since the ratings vary so much. I quite enjoyed the story and learning all that goes into commercial publishing these days. You never feel any pressure to read something that you are undecided about from me I hope. 😁 ❤️ xx

Karen Thank you so very much, Rosh, for your articulate feelings about the questions I was left pondering after reading this. I did consider all of the authors who write historical fiction about WWII and didn't live through it or were even born yet and still write about it and it's acceptable to readers.
I will have to check out your review about this author's work you read and I am interested in reading another 📚 book 😄 by the author since I enjoyed this one so much. ❤️ xx

Nika Wonderful review, dear Karen! This was such an engaging piece of writing! I am so happy to see you loved this novel of which I had heard mixed reviews. I think I might try it later. You got me intrigued.
The quote on writing you included is powerful!

Karen Thank you so very much Dear, Nika! It has gotten mixed reviews. If I was aware of the mixed reviews maybe I would have chosen to not read it. I don't remember exactly what intrigued me to read it. It might have been a finalist of the GR awards that I had read. The aspect of the what piqued my interest was twofold. 1. What could possess a person to take their acquaintance from Yale's who bonded over the common interest in publishing their novels with their motives wanting to write to gain commercially recognition. Along with my interest towards learning of that process and everything else that goes into it. 2. The philosophical questions to ponder in my own mind the bias that exists about racism that exists about who is acceptable to write about a topic of an ethnicity that is different than our own. Thank you so much 😊 ❤️!
