Overview: Human remains discovered in a remote Florida swamp, along with a fourteen-foot alligator, is not exactly an everyday occurrence in the life of Detective Blake Crosby. The remains belong to two young women, and for Crosby, this reopens old wounds. Undeterred by a lack of clues, he forges ahead, determined to find the killer.
In the course of his investigation, Crosby interviews the alluring Naomi Busch, an artist with a tragic past. She’s icy at first, but when her mood softens, he’s captivated. If they become lovers, he’ll be crossing the professional line. But this becomes the least of his concerns when he and Naomi find themselves pitted against a long-established network of predators. And in the ensuing conflict, Crosby finds the struggle to retain his soul is as desperate as the battle to survive.
