I have some of Bainvilles stuff littering my shelves...I might have to bump him up a few notches.
I think I'll wait till I'm 90 and more patient to give this one a shot.
Keep up the good fight. After reading your review previously, I took a look at some of the books I own by Baneville and decided I was not in the mood for him. Perhaps that will change soon.

Thanks, Betsey. I still have the book. I still have not finished it. I fear I would have to start over if I wanted to finish. That fear -- of starting over -- produces nightmares.
Also--there really are GOOD John Banville novels. I have had both experiences with his books, including under his Benjamin Black one name.
