Aha I hope you love this one. I have only read two of her series 1. Teh mortal instruments which I do not like at all and 2. The infernal devices which I love so she's in a neutral state. I wanna hear your thoughts to manage my expectations.

well this sounds like an awful read SK, ugh I’m so sorry to hear it was a total miss 🫂💔
the first bullet point alone already had me so uninterested, I 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦 info dumps paired with long chapters BLEHHHH
bland characters, confusing world building, little to no romance, and nothing interesting happened ?!
now 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 would be a hard book to enjoy, so your 1 star rating is so reasonable 👏
such a shame it was a disappointing book, hope your next read is wayyyy better 😫💗

AHJDHCJKRAHSDAK ONE STAR 😭😭 im so sorry ur first cc book was such a letdown, SK. i haven't read this one yet but her shadowhunters books, i say, are good (the mortal instruments series is eh but the others are better). so if u ever decide to read that, fingers crossed ull enjoy it a bit more. but yeah hope ur next read will be sooo much better

Sadly this was a big no. I do want to check out Shadowhunters at some point but I don't see that happening anytime soon cause of this one 😭

you’re been getting a lot of 1star reads. i personally feel this way about her ever since her controversial livejournal days and will never touch another book of hers. hopefully your next read will be better!

I've been super struggling with the shadowhunter series. Some books are good, and some are just terrible. I feel like she throws darts at arcs/plot lines and then mad libs how to get there and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't... Idk. Not my favorite writer at all.

shes kind of all over the place as an author... the og shadowhunters books are meh, but the infernal devices trilogy is so good. i hope your next book by her works better for you!

Yeah which is why I wanted to give it a shot rather than go through 15 books lol. But it was a huge disappointment and waste of time

oh no :( i hate that this was such a disappointment! i was looking forward to reading this but yeah i think i'll put this off for a while for sure. the things you mentioned are sure to bother me too, which is a shame and info-dumping is literally the worst in fantasy. i also heard this was gonna be pretty romance-heavy so im surprised to hear it isn't. lovely review!! sorry this didn't deliver at all though 🤧

In fact it had the opposite effect, had a really bad time. Yeah I see a lot of people now having the same view as you so maybe will give the infernal devices a shot someday

Haha I got no prior experience with her books but I completely understand your comment based off this one book lol. Am pretty sure I won't be trying anything of hers anytime soon 😭😭 Thankfully my current read is far better

Ah I'm sorry you didn't like this one! It sounds brutal. If you give Cassandra Clare another try, I'd definitely read The Infernal Devices trilogy before any of the others!

I have yet to finish one of her books. I try about once a year without success.

My opinion of Ms. Clare is very low after she tried to push the “they’re not really siblings but they think they are & they love making out with each other regardless” trope in a YA series. I loved her Clockwork Series but when I tried to read her other popular series I just couldn’t stand her writing - which is the info dump, long chapters and then that trope I mentioned 🤢 Probably for the best that this be the last book you read by her.
